A compilation of unusual and dramatic sports moments, featuring a beach volleyball player cheating by moving a boundary rope, a chaotic baseball game resulting in two ejected managers, a high-stakes basketball play to avoid relegation, a marathon futsal penalty shootout, and a confusing missed catch in college softball.
A little cheating never hurt anyone, right?
This is beach volleyball in Germany, pink versus green, a classic matchup.
And this one is going out of bounds.
No way. No way.
They're like, hey, hey, he kicked the rope.
What are you talking about?
And he moves the rope in once he realizes.
And let's did it really have an effect?
Come on.
OK, I edited it.
So the rope stays there.
And had he not moved it?
Oh, yes.
The ball would have been in bounds, which, of course, that's why he did it.
He could have just reacted and tried to kick the ball in the air.
No.
He figured this is more fun.
Let's have some levity and jokes.
They say, ah, illegal.
Not your point.
And a red card.
What?
We're not allowed to make jokes anymore.
They went on to win anyway.
But that was something you missed that you never planned on watching.
And this is everything you missed that you never planned on watching.
This episode is brought to you by your father.
The umpires got the call wrong.
The umpires got the call right.
Both managers get ejected from the game.
How does all that happen in one play?
Take a look.
We got a tie game in the top of the second inning.
And we've got a right handed batter up who takes the second pitch and hits it.
Not a home run.
And then they throw him out at second umpire almost punches him out in the face.
And he's like, dude, that was a home run, though.
How did you not see it?
You had the best view.
He runs over.
And while he's running over, the coach comes out and he kind of dismisses the coach.
He gives the coach one of these little get out of here.
Hey, coach does not like that.
Like, hey, don't do that to me.
Don't talk to me like that.
They're like, hey, what are you doing?
You know, that's bullshit.
Don't do that.
You know, you were just too dismissive of me.
You're going over there.
OK, I'm trying to argue.
OK, I'm stopping.
All right.
Go talk to your friends.
Figure it out because you got the call wrong.
Don't do that to me.
Don't treat me like that.
All right.
That's all I'm saying.
Hey, I've stopped.
Hey, knock it off.
All right.
Why you knock it off?
All right.
Get out.
Don't tell me to F off, huh?
He's like, I'm talking to my buddies.
We're going to look at it.
And the replay, which is not available.
Home runs aren't reviewable in minor league baseball.
It does hit the fence, which is a home run above the yellow line.
If replay is not available and we care about it,
let's not have any of these stupid outfield walls
where you can clear the wall, but it still can ricochet into.
If I was commissioner for a day,
this would maybe be the 15th thing I change.
All home runs should go over a wall.
So that's my 15th change if I'm commissioner for a day.
Anyway, high fives the bearded man who's much taller.
Now, Chad Pinder comes out.
He's like, what are you talking about?
So you couldn't see it from there, but he could see it from there.
And you're going with what he saw from here.
He's like, I saw you run out.
I saw that you had a great view.
Why are you doubting yourself and getting over it?
He's like, well, maybe I just want to get the call right.
All right.
And maybe I didn't have a good view.
Maybe I blinked.
You know, he's like, Chad, Chad, Chad.
Okay, Chad, I'm going to stop you right there.
I've given you two warnings.
Chad's like, I don't care.
It doesn't make any sense.
You're ejected to two managers, one play.
Ultimately, the umpires got the right call.
I do understand what Chad Pinder saying, like, hey, without replay.
So what's going on?
Because Chad hasn't watched the replay.
He doesn't know that ultimately to get the call correct.
He's just saying you ran out and you had a perfect view.
And now the guy who has a worse view is overriding your call.
And you're fine with that.
So you're just bad.
I can't trust a single call you make in the future.
Doesn't matter, Chad.
You've been ejected.
This episode of Things You Miss is brought to you by your dad.
Father's Day is coming up and he wanted me to let you know, pick him up something nice.
Anything.
We've got t-shirts in our store.
People like books on Father's Day.
Anything.
A thank you, a hug.
Brought to you by your dad.
Spanish media is saying that this is one of the greatest individual clutch plays in the
history of the league.
And you need to understand the circumstances here.
The team that is shooting the free throw with four seconds left is down two.
They are also on the brink of relegation.
Going into this game, they needed to win and they needed another team, Grand Canaria, to
lose to survive and not get relegated down to the lower league.
Well, the other half happened.
Grand Canaria lost.
Now this team, Casa de Montzaragoza, needs to win.
They're down two.
There's four seconds.
This guy needs to miss this free throw intentionally and then they need to hit a three.
Then they do just that.
Perfectly missed shot.
Gets his own rebound.
Finds his man, Marcos Spisu.
He puts it up for three.
They win the game.
They avoid relegation.
17th straight year.
They stay in the league.
They celebrate like crazy.
Unbelievable.
But actually, the guy who's taking the free throw, he's from Canada.
His name is Trey Belhaines and very impressive on his part.
I think it's just as impressive as making the three-pointer that his ability to hit
that front rim, get his own rebound.
He steps back to the three-point line, which draws everyone toward him.
Triple teamed.
And our guy, Marcos Spisu, is wide open for the season-saving, relegation-saving, three-point
shot.
The bench goes nuts.
One of these guys in the black shirt is going to fall.
The other two just hug each other.
This guy jumps, falls, gets down.
Doesn't matter.
Gets back up.
Unbelievable finish in the most dramatic circumstances.
Buckle up because you've never seen as many penalty shots as you're about to see.
It's in the finals to the championship of Copa Libertadores de Futsal.
Tie that to it.
Orange team drills their first one and they're fired up.
Oh, yeah.
And the crowd, they're hyped but tepid.
Okay.
And now the goalie is like, I can't watch.
I can't watch.
Just please score.
Boom.
Same thing.
So one goal apiece.
They're going to go five rounds here.
They tied in regulation 2-2.
It's a championship.
Next one.
Same thing.
Goalie did the splits.
He went high.
Yeah.
Okay.
Two to one.
Orange.
He needs to make this to keep it going.
And he does.
And everyone's going high.
And I'm thinking, are the goalies allowed to jump?
Are the keepers allowed to jump?
Because everyone's just going straight up.
Oh, he missed.
Oh, he hit the crossbar.
Goalie is taking all the credit.
He blocked the lane.
Sure he did.
This guy can't believe it.
Went straight up.
Hit the post.
Boom.
So now goalie can't watch.
He's saying all his prayers.
Please make it.
And he didn't.
So they're going to need a save later on.
Because it's five rounds the first time.
It's not sudden death yet.
Crowd loves it.
Lefty comes up and he drills the top left corner.
So now it's three to three.
But they need a save badly.
And they get it right there.
Drilled the middle.
Thought the keeper would move out of the way.
Keeper did not move out of the way.
So we are tied up here.
We are tied.
And there's one round left of five.
And he makes it.
Jumping and kicking.
And then he makes it.
So now we're sudden death.
And we just got goal.
Okay.
And now it's six to six.
This is unbelievable.
We're going to the eighth round of penalty kicks here.
It's tied up.
And drills it.
Keeper went the wrong way.
Need a save.
Need something big.
Tries to go up the middle again.
The keeper makes the save.
And they win.
It's their seventh all time.
Libertadores title.
They're just lying on the ground exhausted.
I love the reaction from the keeper.
He tried to just shoot the middle.
What's the name for that again?
I forget.
And it hits his leg.
And he just, look at it.
He stands up to celebrate.
Then realizes, no, I'm exhausted.
And flops down.
Unbelievable finish.
Drama.
Look at the crowd erupt.
And some college softball to round it off.
Texas Tech playing Alabama.
Tied at two.
Bottom five.
Now Texas Tech would go on to win this.
Spoiler.
It's not really what the video is about.
Congratulations to Texas though.
They beat Texas Tech in the championship.
But this play had people a little confused.
Because the left fielder gets to her spot.
Reaches up.
And doesn't make the catch.
A two run home run.
The pitchers confused.
And people were showing this replay a lot.
And being like, what's going on here?
Why aren't we jumping at the wall?
And I hate to throw, you know, shade on anyone.
Or I hope you guys don't come at her.
There's reports that she might be dealing with an oblique injury.
Which make a lot of sense.
Or maybe, you know, people miss time things.
But she gets there.
The feet.
The left foot never really comes off the ground.
It hit her glove.
You would think that catch can get made.
I wonder if the injury thing is real.
I saw a lot of people wondering, what is this?
How did this happen?
And again, I think this is interesting.
But I don't want you guys being jerks in the comments about it.
Because these girls are crazy talented.
And watch any of my other videos to see.
But look at the pitcher's reaction.
Oh, what?
Bummer!
That was everything you missed.
I never planned on watching.
Thank you very much for tuning in.
This episode was great.
Pen drop.
