Today marks eleven years since I moved to England
In this week's slow living vlog, I reflect on eleven years since moving to England and the journey of creating a life that truly feels like home. I enjoy the first strawberries from my garden, bake a traditional Kentish Cherry Cake inspired by a fascinating piece of English history, finish a small home decorating project, and take a peaceful walk through the Hampshire village of Avington.

Kentish Cherry Cake
125g unsalted butter, softened
125g sugar
2 eggs
125g plain flour
60g ground almonds
¼ tsp baking powder
1 tbsp milk
250g cherries, pitted and halved
A few extra cherries for decoration
Method:
Bake at 180°C (Gas Mark 4) for around 30 minutes, or until golden and a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
Asparagus Toast
Ingredients
2 slices of sourdough bread
A handful of asparagus
1 garlic clove
Juice of ½ lemon
Extra virgin olive oil
Brie cheese
Fresh basil leaves
Salt and black pepper
