Twelve thousand years ago, when human beings were supposedly nomadic hunters with no permanent settlements, someone built Göbekli Tepe: a complex of carved stone pillars more than five meters tall, arranged in circles, in what is now southeastern Turkey. No one knows exactly who built it, how, or why. And it is not the only one. This sleep documentary explores the settlements and structures that human beings built before what we call history, and what they tell us about who we were long before we started writing things down.
