How we house, feed, play with and clean up after our ferrets. All things to consider prior to getting ferrets.

All right so I wanted to share with everybody how we care for our 13 ferrets. So right here you can
see we have two three-story ferret nation cages side by side. Our three older ferrets live in
this one that has the open door that certain bad cats are deciding to eat the ferret food
right now. What are you doing? Get out of there. Come on out. All right and then we got a ferret
that didn't come out for playtime. So we'll close this door and get her out and then I can show you
a little bit more. There you go Nola. So the bottom floor is their litter box and then right on there
they got like kind of a mid halfway up to the first floor. They have a little hammock and a
little padded thing to lay on. They really love hammocks so they got that one. On the second floor
you got their two food bowls, their water on the door, and they have a little house that their mom
made for them with a blanket inside. They really like to curl up inside of blankets. They got two
more hammocks here and then right here they got a couple little hidey places in the back that they
can sleep. And then on the third floor up here we have two more hammocks and a big blankie. So you
can see that there might be six ferrets in this cage but they have a lot of room for the six of
them to play. And then the baby ferrets. We call them baby ferrets. Some of them aren't really babies
anymore but you know how it is when you have a younger group and an older group the younger
group's always the babies right. So their third floor also has a little hammock. It's a cute little
koala hammock. They have a big little pumpkin bed up there. They also have their hammocks.
They're a little upset right now. You look at their little cute little faces. They want out but
it's big ferret playtime. For some reason we can't let these ferrets out at the same time as
these ferrets because as you can see these ferrets are kind of mischievous and like to chase cats.
They're also kind of mean to the baby ferrets. So these guys will stay out for a little while
and then the baby ferrets will come out. Every night me and my wife come in here and when we
come in here we put up the group of ferrets we let out first and then we put we clean their
litter box right. So we have to because we have 13 ferrets we have to clean these litter boxes every
night. So we clean the litter boxes then we put the big ferrets up and then we'd let the small
ferrets out clean their litter boxes and then get ready for bed do everything else we got to do and
come back in and put the little ferrets up. Usually what happens is whoever gets out first
gets more playtime than the other ferrets. So what we usually end up doing a lot is kind of swapping
when we get them out but to be honest a lot of times I just whichever group is awake and wanting
out when I come in here first is the more group that gets out. So let's look around we got some
of our ferrets here. This one right here is Mindy. Hi Mindy. All right and then right here is Boomy.
Hi Boomy. You're Boomer and then we got Rocket right there. Right here is Lucky and there's
okay there's Boomy and see where's Nova. We got one more I don't know where she went she ran off
All right and then baby ferrets right here. All right so this one right here
this is Timmy. Timmy say hi. Timmy doesn't want to say hi. We got two little ferrets that look
like this one they're called Kit and Kat. You kind of look at them real close to tell the
difference between the two of them and then got some more down here. So all in all we have 13
ferrets. They have their own bedroom as you can see and we have to clean this bedroom like once a
day. Some of the ferrets are really good about coming out. We have two litter boxes that they
can use. The cats also use them. You can see the cats and the ferrets they play with each other.
Boomy and Rocket they really like beating up the poor cat. Other ferrets play a little more
the cats are fine don't worry about them. Yeah he's fine. So like I was saying some of the ferrets
are really good about using the litter boxes and some of them are not so good. So you can see that
we kind of line the wall with cardboard. So that cardboard all against the baseboard all the way
back through there all the way under the cages. Right in here we got the cardboard lined in this
closet. So about once a week we got to come in here scrape the floor clean it real good with
disinfectant and replace all this cardboard. So yeah owning ferrets are cute. They're fun
but they're a lot of work. You got to do a lot of cleaning a lot of cleanup
but they're worth it. They're fun. They're cute. They need homes. They need adoption. So if you
have a chance to save a ferret you're willing to invest the time and money with all this stuff
then I would recommend it. It's really worth it. They're a lot of fun. We'll get you guys out later
I promise. So I hope you like the tour of the ferrets. Tigger says hi. Turk says hi. I forgot
to show you guys this. So we put a cat door in this bedroom door so that the cats can come in
and out visit the ferrets and then the ferrets would get locked in here not get out and get
eaten by a dog. But unfortunately it turned out that ferrets are pretty smart and they learned
how to unlock that door and open it with their little claws. So we put up this gate because the
cats can come through and get out the gate but this little monster right here she has learned
the trick on how to get over the gate and so now we had to do a different type of locking cat door.
If you watch her you might get to see her do it. She'll get a jump going right here. She didn't
make it that time but she's she's very determined so she'll try this three four or five times until
she finally gets a grip on the top of the gate. She'll lean herself over it and then we'll be in
the living room and we'll hear her scratching at the cat door and that's when we know she's
gotten over it. So out of the 13 ferrets she's the only one that somehow managed to figure this out
and do it. Come on Mindy you can do it. No she's not too concerned about doing it right now because
I've been here with her but as soon as I leave this room she's going to try to jump that thing.
So again ferret room, ferret play time. Mindy's the only one. Taz is the other old one. It's
Mindy's sister right there and then we got Boomy, Rocket, that's Nola. Hi Nola. So two girls Mindy and
Nola. He's lucky. I'm lucky. So after I filmed that last part I went back to the living room
and then I started hearing the noise and so now we have a little ferret. You can see her
on the other side of this door here. So yeah she did exactly what I said she would do. She jumped
over the gate and now I'm gonna get her and I'm gonna put her back over.
