In this video we cover how to test a Cummins ISX CM870/871 (sometimes referred to as the HPI-TP Fuel system) Injector check valves. Yes fuel exits the injector into the combustion chamber but we don't want the high pressures in the cylinder to aerate our fuel by going the other way through the injector. The injector check valve lets fuel pass through it to the chamber but will block pressure coming from the other direction. When this check valve fails you could have a rough running engine, low power complaints and maybe getting enough air in the fuel to cause extended cranking or a not start.
