Amazonite Beaded Necklace | Jewelry 101

Hey Doodle School! Thanks for being here with me this afternoon. So I'm gonna show you guys how I wire wrapped those little beads on there and then we're gonna make a little necklace. All right we're just gonna grab a little bit of 26 gauge wire we don't need a ton just a couple inches maybe like five just to give you some room to work with and then we're gonna grab our teardrop. Now if you'll zoom in on this teardrop I'm going to show you guys there's these little openings up there up here these little holes kind of that's I think just I don't know that they're there for any particular reason but I was like that's the perfect little place to wire wrap something on to. So they've got those little openings right there and we're gonna take advantage of them. So what we're gonna do is we're gonna slide our wire into the hole and we're just gonna wrap like twice through that hole and I bet y'all didn't even know that was there. So I don't want a big bulky wrap there just a little bit just enough to secure my wire so just two wraps through there and then we've got our tail our longer tail hanging down there and so then I just want to pull any slack out of this just to make sure you're tucking that tail down so you can like you can't even really see this wire there which is what I wanted you can barely see that wire wrapped on there. Amazing! Okay now we're going to string our beads so what I did I'm going to cut open this chip thing strand and we're going to kind of graduate them a little bit because of how the teardrop is shaped. I don't want I want to graduate it so that my bulkier chips are down are down towards the middle and they get kind of smaller as we come up the sides of the teardrop shape so I'm just going to totally pull all this off so that I have plenty to choose from oops and then we'll go from there we'll start picking out our teardrop I mean our our chips so we're I'm just going to pull some of the smaller sizes aside I really just kind of want to clear that section up on the side of the teardrop that is a little bit thinner and I just want to make sure I have enough for both sides these look good flip that yeah okay and then I did oh this is backwards one two three four five gold beads so the gold beads help you see how those like right here the space between the two teardrops is pretty narrow and if I've got my amazonite amazonite up there it's going to get real bulky and it's just going to kind of stick up off my teardrop in a way that I do not don't want it to so I kind of graduated it even further with the gold beads so I'm going to do five little gold beads and then we're going to start adding so that just makes gives us like a better starting point for our amazonite so now we can start adding our little chips so I'm going to do these little guys and then we'll just get a little bit bigger as we come around the bottom so I'm just going to be kind of selective as I'm picking my nuggets and just kind of pay attention to where I'm landing I can get a little bit bigger now and see how it's just kind of graduated ever so slightly with my chips and then we'll do come back a little bit smaller I think that's a good little it's a little long I'll pull one off I don't want it to I don't want my my beads to necessarily cover up the bottom of my teardrop I want them to kind of land right there in the middle so that's one thing to keep an eye out for where your beads are landing and then five more gold beads we're going to see how that I like that I like that placement that's pretty good just like that now we're going to do the same thing we're going to come back through that little hole on the other side of our teardrop bead with our wire and just make sure you're getting those gold beads pulled up pretty tight up there towards the kid that connection there I don't want any slack in my wire so just make sure we're pulling that wire through nice and tight there and then we're going to do one more pass here through our little gap and then we'll turn that off there in the back and then just make sure you're going in and just tucking that tail in so that it's not poking out anywhere isn't that pretty all right so now thank you so now we're going to add our gold I mean our pink teardrop up here at the top so we're going to grab a head pin and we're going to grab a little gold bead and then we are going to drop our pink bead on there aren't they pretty so you can do you know what for this one I'm going to do another little gold bead at the top one other one of the things that I also like about these gold beads they're a great little buffer if you're using a one-step looper so with the glass beads it can when you're using the one-step looper your your goal is to pull your beads up as close uh to your tool as you can and so and but then you've got that mechanism that that makes your loop for you and that can sometimes crush your bead if you're not careful the best way I have found to get a nice like tight loop up there at the top without crushing my bead is to have a little baby buffer bead up there at the top especially if you're using a bigger bead a bead with a flat edge on top anything like that you're going to need some kind of buffer so you can get your tool close enough but you're not going to crush your bead at the same time and so I'm going to add another little gold bead up there at the top because this metal bead has got more flex in it than your glass bead so say you got it a little bit too tight worst case scenario you're just going to maybe dent your little gold bead just a little bit you're not even going to be able to see it or just maybe like smush it a little bit which is no big deal I'd rather that than crush one of my glass beads so we're going to grab our one step looper and slide that on to slide our head pin in through the mechanism and we're just going to get this pushed up right next to our gold bead there see how it's just like a nice little buffer between my glass bead and my tool give that a squeeze ta-da you got your little loop there there at the top now we're just going to open that up we're going to hang it on our this is the only tricky part for me sometimes I have a hard hard time getting things to getting my loop on oh no I lost my gold bead on to that loop oh man that's the thing about opening these loops up when you've got this little gold bead is like they they're trying they try to escape a little bit okay so we're just going to this like is one of those things that makes my brain hurt okay oh there we go okay got it hooked on and now we're just going to go in with our chain nose pliers and just close that loop up and then I just got this little dangle there right there in the middle okay I forgot a jump ring there's a jump ring in here okay so we've got a jump ring and we're going to open that up grab our chain and grab one of those links actually I'm just going to leave it free on there and then we're going to grab our pendant and then we're going to grab another wire and just close that jump ring up there we go aren't this isn't that just a pretty little I just love that color I don't think it would be the same without like the those colors love the I can't there we go so cute hey guys thanks for being here with me today I hope you
