🎨Vasily Perov (1834-1882) was a foundational Russian painter who served as a key figure in the Russian Realist movement. He was a leading founding member of the Peredvizhniki (The Wanderers), a famous cooperative of realistic artists who rebelled against academic restrictions to capture the authentic, raw realities of everyday life.

In the 1870s, he painted iconic portraits of Russia's cultural elite.

His most famous is the raw, introspective 1872 portrait of writer Fyodor Dostoevsky, displayed at the State Tretyakov Gallery
