America 250: Captain Emily Howell Warner – Breaking the Aviation Glass Ceiling

In celebration of America's 250th, the FAA is honoring the pioneers who paved the way for modern aviation. In 1976, Warner made history by becoming the first female captain of a scheduled U.S. airline.

From a young flight enthusiast getting her student pilot license in just three days, to a dedicated certified flight instructor (CFI), and eventually an airline captain with Frontier Airlines, Warner’s perseverance permanently changed the landscape of commercial aviation.
