How Sperm Whales Hunt More Than a Mile Deep | Part 3 | SLICE EARTH

In the open ocean, new cameras and dive tags reveal how deep-diving marine mammals use a world once hidden from science.

Orcas strip toothfish from longlines and prove they can dive far deeper than surface observations once suggested. Sperm whales push even farther, spending long periods underwater and descending more than a mile in pursuit of prey in the black depths. At Kerguelen, elephant seals add another layer to the mystery, carrying sensors through remote southern waters and hinting that their deep-sea lives may be more extreme than researchers expected.
