Prom season came and went fast. Thankfully, we filmed it.

In this vlog, we take you behind the scenes on one of our high school prom builds at Spruce Mountain Ranch in Larkspur, Colorado as the Rokbox crew loads in a full audio, lighting, and laser package for a 4-hour dance.

This particular setup focused heavily on atmosphere and creating an immersive dance floor experience for the students attending the event. With haze in the air and a fully programmed lighting rig, we brought out X-Laser Skywriter HPX M-10s, Mega-Lite EW1s, glow totems, uplighting, and a Vista-controlled lighting system designed to completely transform the room. On the audio side, we deployed a Martin Audio THS system with SX218 subs and FP12 outfills, giving the dance floor the kind of low end and coverage needed to keep energy in the room throughout the night.

More than anything, this video is about how this production comes together from start to finish on site. We spend a lot of time walking through how we approached the production for this prom, including laser safety and zoning, cable management, respecting the venue and the space we’re working in, lighting focus, system deployment, and how the crew works together through both load-in and strike.

One thing we care deeply about as a company is that events like this are far more than simply showing up with speakers and lights. Every decision matters. How the room feels matters. How quickly and safely the crew can deploy matters. How we treat a venue matters. The small details add up and directly impact the experience for both the venue and the students on the dance floor.

Huge thank you to the staff at Spruce Mountain Ranch for always being fantastic to work with and for trusting us to bring this event to life.
