Ben Salem, Bucks County, a 22-year-old driver is dead after a horrific car crash involving
several vehicles. Dash cam video from a passing car shows the tragic sequence of events,
and authorities say it all started as a family argument before the young victim got in his car
and drove off. Action reporter Elizabeth Worthington joins us live near the scene
with the details. Elizabeth. Yeah, good evening, Rick. This was a horrible crash. This happened
more than six hours ago, and they just finished clearing the wreckage. Now, we connected with
a driver whose Tesla cameras captured the crash. He just narrowly avoided that speeding vehicle
as it came towards him, and you can tell just how quickly that crash happened. Video from a vehicle's
cameras captured the moment a speeding driver crossed into oncoming traffic on Bristol Road,
hitting multiple vehicles, flying through the air, and then rolling over. And this was the
deadly aftermath. The driver of the overturned Toyota was partially ejected from his car and
died at the scene. It was horrific. Witnesses and neighbors who spoke to the driver's mother
say he was 22 years old. His mother pulled up that it was heart-wrenching. She let out a cry
that I'll never forget, and she just kept saying, he's dead, he's dead. I felt so bad, and she just
started crying on my shoulder, and I felt awful. According to Ben Salem Township Police, the driver
was involved in a domestic incident in neighboring Lower Southampton Township before the crash.
Witnesses tell Action News his mother said they got into an argument, and he took the keys and
sped off. He floored in. I guess he took the anger out on the car and just was driving upset. Police
say he was speeding eastbound down Bristol Road near Chester Avenue when he crossed into oncoming
traffic while attempting to pass another vehicle. He then struck a Hyundai before flying through the
air, hitting a Honda SUV and an HVAC company's truck on the way down. The Hyundai ended up in
someone's yard. That driver, as well as the driver of the HVAC truck, were both taken to the hospital.
The guy got out of the car, the meaningful car. He was not good. He was covered in blood. It just,
it was horrific. It really was. Next thing you know, like, I just heard a big, like, boom,
and, like, I came outside to come see it, and all I just saw was that car just flipped over.
Kind of upsetting, not gonna lie, but after hearing the backstory, it's even sadder.
The identity of the deceased driver has not yet been released. We did speak off-camera to some
of the drivers who were involved, and tonight they are just grateful to be alive. We're live
in Bensalem Township tonight. Elizabeth Worthington, Channel 6 Action News. Rick? All right, Elizabeth,
thank you.
