The Long Ride to Yemen Begins

Cycling the world - Asia: episode 38
I leave my campsite near Al Hoota Cave and continue through the mountains of Oman, stopping for cold water, simple breakfasts and a few unexpected encounters along the way. After crossing dry riverbeds and dirt tracks I reach Nizwa, where I take a short break to work, resupply and finally give both myself and the bike some much needed maintenance. A few days later I leave the city behind and commit to the long ride toward Salalah. The heat is intense, the headwind relentless and the distances vast. With the help of cold drinks, roadside stops and plenty of patience I push into the desert once again, ending the day under a full moon cooking tortellini alone in the silence of Oman.
