AI GeneratedThis video shares three traditional techniques to stimulate fruit production in trees that refuse to bear fruit. These methods work by inducing controlled stress, which triggers a physiological survival response in the tree, encouraging it to reproduce through increased flowering and fruiting.
Did you know there are tricks that can wake up a fruit tree that just won't bear fruit?
Well, today I'm going to share three old techniques with you that have been used for
many, many years and that you probably didn't know about.
Look at this lemon tree.
For how small it is, just check out how loaded it is.
It's incredible.
And check out this grapefruit tree.
Look at how it's coming along.
Well, we use techniques like the ones I'm going to show you today on these little trees.
And the best part is you can do it with things you already have at home.
It's super quick to do and anyone can do it.
Pay close attention because we're starting with the first method.
The first method is probably one of the most interesting and effective of all.
And all we're going to do is make a small window in the branch.
We're going to need a really sharp knife and we're going to make a small cut on the branch.
This will create a small controlled wound.
You don't need to go too deep or damage the branch.
If the branch is thicker, make a bigger window or cut so the effect is proportional.
For smaller trees like this one,
a small wound like the one I'm about to show you is more than enough.
Now, we just grab the knife and make that small window about an inch wide like this.
All right.
Once the cut is made, the bark and part of the cambium have already been removed.
Once we've made that cut and it's properly prepared,
this is also very important.
You don't do this to the whole tree.
You can do it only on some branches or at most on 50% of the tree.
Remember, these are very old techniques.
This isn't anything new and it's been proven time and again that they work wonderfully.
So what is this little wound or window we've made going to do?
Well, this is going to cause a bit of controlled stress in the tree.
The tree will interpret that damage as a warning signal
and trigger a physiological survival response.
And what does the tree try to do when it senses that?
Well, it's going to try to reproduce.
And that's exactly why we use these kinds of techniques
to greatly maximize flowering and later on the amount of fruit produced.
Now then, once we've made the window, all we need to do is take a piece of aloe vera.
While this isn't mandatory, it is highly recommended.
We cut it in half vertically and spread all the gel over the wound.
After that, just secure it with a string, some twine, or even a couple of zip ties.
Don't worry about the ties because over time they'll just fall off on their own.
What's interesting here is that during those days,
the aloe vera keeps the area hydrated, protected, and covered,
which greatly reduces the risk of fungus or any kind of infection.
And now let's move on to the second method.
This method was used a lot to really boost flowering, just like the previous method.
But this one has an extra edge.
It's a bit more radical.
And all we're going to need is a piece of wire.
It can be just a regular, ordinary wire like this one.
And it's very simple to do.
All we're going to do is wrap it around the branch several times,
leaving about a centimeter of space between each loop.
This way, if the branch is thicker, you just use more wire,
and adjust the process to fit the size of the branch.
For small branches, something like this is more than enough.
Once we have it in place, as the branch grows and thickens,
we'll see how this little wire starts to put some pressure on it,
which in turn triggers a physiological survival response,
and the tree will try to reproduce.
And that's exactly why this simple method can greatly improve flowering,
and later on, the amount of fruit.
And remember, the idea isn't to completely strangle the branch.
It's just to slightly restrict or reduce the flow of sap.
That'll give the tree a little wake-up call.
And of course, something else that's very important,
we're not going to leave this on forever.
We just leave it until that tree, which didn't want to bear fruit,
starts to develop flowers.
Once the tree has woken up, we remove the wire and that's it.
And now let's move on to the third method.
And this is probably one of the most interesting and oldest methods of all.
Because in this case, we're not going to make any cuts or use wire either.
All we're going to do is gently force some branches to open up a bit.
And it's very simple to do.
You just grab part of the branch and slowly bend it downward
until you feel a little tension.
This way.
And as you can see in the video,
by using several screws placed along the edge of the pot,
we can easily bend the branches using a string or twine
to keep that constant tension.
And if we're working directly in the ground,
we do exactly the same thing.
But using a stake, a piece of rebar or a rod driven into the soil
to tie the string to and keep the branch bend downward.
The important thing here is to keep that slight constant tension
so the method works properly.
And what happens when we do this?
Well, exactly the same thing as with the previous methods.
In this case, by putting tension on the branch,
it sends a warning signal to the tree.
And as a result, it responds by flowering,
producing more flowers and therefore will get more fruit,
which is exactly what this video is about.
And I also wanted to give you a little extra
because honestly, it's really worth it.
People who have lived in the countryside all their lives
have always had better results
when these techniques are applied during a full moon.
It's believed that during this phase,
the sap is much more active in the upper part of the tree
and usually the tree's response is much stronger.
So the success rate tends to be much higher.
And remember, just like with the previous methods,
this isn't about keeping the branches forced forever.
The idea here is to induce the tree
or cause a small local life injury
to make the tree that didn't want to bear fruit
understand that it needs to start working.
Once the tree starts to bloom and produce,
we simply remove all the ropes or methods we've been using
and that's it.
So now you have three incredibly simple
and effective techniques
using things you probably already have at home
and that have been used for many years by our grandparents.
No more having trees in our garden or orchard
that refuse to bear fruit.
With these three methods,
you'll be able to do just that.
Wake up that fruit tree
and get it to start producing a lot more.
And if you want to keep learning more techniques,
tips and methods like these,
subscribe to the channel
because we're always sharing videos very similar to this one.
I'd also really love it if you could tell me in the comments
where you're watching from
and especially which tree you're having trouble with
because I read every single one of your comments
and many times the next videos
come directly from your suggestions.
And of course, if you can,
give this video a like
and share it with someone who loves plants,
gardening or fruit trees as much as you do.
And stay tuned because there are plenty more coming.
