Everything to Know About the New 'Toy Story 5'

Cinema's most beloved toy box returned to the big screen on Thursday as Woody Buzz Lightyear, and Jesse made their latest debut at the UK premiere of Toy Story 5 in London. This fifth installment tackles a highly contemporary conflict as the iconic toys face the terrifying prospect of obsolescence when forced to compete with high-tech gadgets, electronic gizmos, and the encroaching rise of artificial intelligence in children's lives. Original stars Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack walked the red carpet alongside veteran director Andrew Stanton and franchise newcomer Greta Lee, who joins the ensemble as Lillipad, a frog-shaped smart tablet. They landed upon, look every one of these films, it lands upon some aspect of what's it like to be alive and particularly what's it like to be a kid, and the importance of the emotional connection that we have with quote-unquote toys are something that we create ourselves. It's a relationship that is as different for every child as our fingerprints, and I think I think everybody relates to that on a almost a molecular level. It feels amazing. The franchise is now almost 30 years long, um 30 years old. I was a kid when I saw the first one, so it's just like I'm so grateful and it's such an honor to be part of this. Toy Story 5 is scheduled to open in cinemas nationwide on the 19th of June.
