This news segment covers various royal updates, including speculation regarding Peter Phillips' upcoming wedding attire, Prince George's potential transition to a co-educational day school instead of a traditional boarding school, and new controversial claims from Andrew Lowney's book regarding the spending habits and personal associations of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
Let's turn to the royal news now and a wedding that is coming up.
Peter Phillips is preparing to marry Harriet Spurling next month and there's now some speculation
as to whether Princess Anne will be lending her future daughter-in-law one of the tiaras
from her personal collections.
What do you think is going to happen here?
Well I don't think she'll get the tiara because when Anne herself got married the second time
she didn't wear a tiara and I think Princess Anne is quite a stickler for tradition in
a way.
The one tiara she can't give Harriet of course is the festoon tiara because I believe she
lent that to Peter's first wife Autumn so it would look a bit on the nose I think as
she was going to give it to the second wife and she lent one of her, there's another Greek
one in her collection apparently that Zara, her daughter, actually wore at her wedding
day and there's another tiara which apparently the pine flower aquamarine tiara, I mean it's
great she's got this amazing collection of them, I'd love to know the real history of
how she actually acquired them.
That's never been on a bride's head as far as I know so I think for less farce there
won't be a tiara but I could be wrong, we could see it with some sort of glittering
headpiece.
We've heard from Prince William this week, he's opened up in a pretty kind of emotional
interview speaking about his wife Princess Catherine but he also revealed that Prince
George is sometimes boarding at Lambrook, this private school where three of his children
attend, and now the young royal is preparing for secondary school, I can't believe it.
I know it's hard to believe isn't it, his little boy now, he'll be 13 in July so that
decision is imminent because the British school year starts in September so if he is going
to Eton, which was always the expectation given his father went there and his brother
and lots of royals have been there, but it seems that's not going to be on the cards
at all, there's talk about Catherine and William visiting Highgate School in North London which
is a day school so that would be a massive departure for a future king to go there but
also a school nearby where it's co-ed and all three of them could actually attend.
I note in some of the commentary there was, given what Catherine has endured in recent
years, particularly her health battle, she wants her eldest son at home with her during
his teenage years, although he's boarding now, she doesn't really want him to board
when he's at secondary school but that's always been the royal way hasn't it, send them off
to boarding school, right back to Charles, come into Australia and go into Gordonston
and things like that so I think it'll be interesting to see whether Catherine gets her way and
she can keep her teenage boy close because he will need his mother a lot more when he's
a teenager in secondary school.
That's certainly fair enough after the year that she's had as well.
There's been another update on ex-prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, this is coming from royal
author Andrew Lowney's updated edition of Entitled, there are more bombshell claims
in there, including that Fergie burned through money, including allegedly using her daughter's
credit card to rack up a big spending bill, what more can you tell us?
Yes and to buy cream cakes apparently, I mean how bizarre, that's not eccentric, that's
just you know, bizarre really in a way, so yes she's been racking up charges on Beatrice's
credit card, there's that really revolting story of her being friends with benefits with
Sean Coombs, I mean she can really pick her male companions, Jeffrey Epstein, Sean Coombs
etc, some sort of unsavoury detail about Andrew's video collection as well, things
he's apparently into, but also the excess, apparently Andrew sent a valet on a flight
to pick up a teddy bear which had been left behind, I mean that's just obscene, really
obscene use of funds but also to treat people in that way, sort of dispatching them to go
and pick up a teddy bear I think is obscene as well, so there's still a lot of interest
I think in these two who clearly deserve each other, I mean whether the public deserves
them of course is another matter, but I think there'll be even more revelations about Fergie's
behaviour and which, while not as bad as Andrew's, is equally as revolting, I mean they completely
deserve each other.
It's shocking isn't it, every week there's a new revelation, it's hard to keep up with
of course these are just claims at the moment, but Louise Robert thank you so much for bringing
us up to speed.
