Montana Truck Camping in Spring Remote River Camp with My Dog

Alright guys, welcome back to the channel and an official cheers. We are sipping on root beer. So good. This is Zero Sugar. I got root beer a little bit ago or I don't know like a week or so ago. I don't know how long it's been. From A&W in Columbia Falls. Man, I forgot how good root beer actually is. And, well, sugar root beer too. You can have those calories. So we are out here. We are in by far one of my favorite locations. The road down here just opened up I believe probably about four days ago. So it's still really early in the season. They close this road off in the wintertime so you can't access it. It's closed as well in the fall at a certain time. I want to say like October. So from October until now or May you can't access this area. So it makes it really special to come down here and to be honest in the summertime this place is usually pretty busy. Weather like this when it's not super cold but it is a little bit rainy and it is middle of the week you can usually get down here and secure a spot by yourself. So that's exactly what we did. This is a very big video because it is Odie's or it was Odie's fifth birthday on May 14th. So this is a trip to celebrate Odie's birthday. We came out here to this same exact spot last year right around his birthday and it was a spectacular camp. So I'm hoping for the same. We have an awesome dinner on tap for tonight. Something that I have not tried. We are going to try and make Dutch oven lasagna. So I'm very excited for that and then we also are going to try a new dessert that I have not tried as well. So lots of good stuff. Excited to be out camping again. Colors are changing. The birds are definitely chirping. The grass is getting green. The river is flowing and summer is definitely on its way. We have two hours left of daylight but we're gonna have to cook dinner here soon because I'm getting hungry. So enjoy the rest of it and we'll check in once we start making some dinner. Odie is very tired. He was like waiting around the truck to get in so I got him in. We had a great dinner. We had some elk that was left over from the lasagna. Some salmon treats from Yvonne up in Alaska. So thank you for sending those. It's been a good night. It's like 9 30 and it's still light out. It is starting to rain so we're going to get inside the truck and I think we're actually going to just make a peak refuel peach cobbler. So we'll do that on the inside. We're gonna fatten up the hatches. It's gonna start raining here. It's coming in and we're the back of the super pacific. Get the heater going as well. It's not going to be super cold but it's definitely going to be chilly enough that it will be nice to have the heater going low tonight. All right we'll see you guys on the inside. All right good morning everyone. Hopefully you're enjoying. It's a very peaceful morning out here. Just like the last time we camped here. It rained a little bit in the evening and then this heavy dense fog slash inversion moved in the next morning as well and that's that's exactly what we're experiencing right now. So can't see too much. If you do look directly up at least probably about 30 minutes ago and towards the mountains over there you could start to see maybe what looked like some sunshine but never broke through. So maybe on the drive out of here it will start to break through. I do know it's overcast though for today but yeah no one's out here. It's great place all to ourselves. Like I said this is a very very popular spot especially in the summertime. It just gets really busy so I normally don't come out here during that time frame. But early in the season like this when the weather isn't so great and the gate just opens usually you can snag a spot all by yourself. And then on the topic of finding spots like this. I find all of these spots 99% of the time by myself. Guys it's a lot of work. So I just don't give out coordinates. I'm not a huge fan of doing that as well. In my perspective, in my view, I do a lot of work of scouting these spots. So it would be the equivalent of giving homework answers away essentially. Why would I do all this for work of looking at the map? Coming out to these spots because coming out to these spots and scouting spots is like 99% of the work. A lot of the best spots that I've found have actually been by accident. So I always encourage people like you know look at the map. Gaia, Onyx, whatever you're using. Google Maps. Like you can find a lot of amazing spots and then the best thing that you have to do after that is just go out there and see for yourself. So I don't give exact coordinates just out of respect of keeping these places clean too. So yeah if you are looking for amazing spots. I can also maybe do a video on that on YouTube. How I find spots. I use Onyx off-road obviously. I'm not getting paid for this but I've used the app for quite a while and it is it is great for finding spots. So if you guys want a video of that of how I go about my process of finding spots like this just let me know. Leave a comment down below and maybe we can do a video of walking through like that. But it does take a lot of leg work. It takes a lot of going out there and scouting and again like you can look at the map. You can think the spot's amazing and I've done that multiple times where I'm like this spot is going to be epic and you get there and it's just not. So scouting is 99% of it. Takes a lot of work and yeah I think Odie is ready to go. So we're going to start packing up here. It is it's wild. The sun comes up like it starts getting light at 5 30. It's just a little bit before 8. But we're probably going to start packing up here. I just want to get some epic shots coming out. There's a lot of road to travel back into town.
