Adrienne Bickert is back. She sat down with the all-star cast. Good morning again, Adrienne.
Good morning, Cecilia. Yes, Dark Phoenix is raw. It's emotional.
The veterans of First Class say it meant longer rehearsal days to get them to this challenging place in a world where those they love are their greatest enemies.
Dark Phoenix, the final chapter for Marvel's First Class of X-Men, centers around Sophie Turner's character, Jean Grey, alongside James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier.
Don't do this, Eric.
Michael Fassbender as Magneto.
The girl dies.
And Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique.
I've been with this character since I was 19 years old, so I wanted to be a part of that, this big climax of the film.
The movie itself feels more up close and personal, a product of writer-director Simon Kinberg.
There's a lot of handheld camera work in this film. It gives an intimacy just through the visual sort of aspect of it.
I don't know who I am.
Yes, you do.
In this film, the bad guy is your heroine as well.
Even when you're having a big old action sequence and the bad guy's killing somebody, they're killing family, you know what I mean? So it's immediately more intimate.
We see more of that fine line between good and evil with Xavier.
We've always sort of had a bit of vanity and ego at play with Charles.
He's got this message, which is a really important and positive message of integration, and he's taking his eye off of his family.
James had that idea way back in First Class. I remember we were sitting down and he was like, you know, I see this guy, sort of his Achilles heel is his ego.
I think that was my idea.
I think it was. I think it was.
That sounds remarkably similar to a line that you deliver in the movie.
The women are always saving the men around here. You might want to think about changing the name to ex-women.
There are some plot twists. There are some things that people are going to be possibly surprised by. Was that exhilarating for you?
That's what was so cool. It was there really are no limits in this film.
Look at me. Focus on my voice.
A thrilling end as the cast reflects on what has been nearly a decade of working together.
I've been really, really lucky with working with incredible directors that really taught me and actors.
I'm Jennifer. It was just this natural talent.
You know, it was it was really clear to see.
It was just yeah. No, it was so nice.
It's gorgeous to watch because you can also see somebody like that get used up by the industry.
You didn't let that happen. I don't believe anybody.
I didn't know what was going on.
Thank you, guys. It was really sweet.
So we just wanted to do an interview.
And obviously they forged that family connection on set.
Dark Phoenix hits theaters on Friday.
