If you've got a closet full of pretty scarves that you don't wear because you're just not quite sure
how to tie them, I gotcha. In today's video I am showing you five easy ways to tie a square scarf.
These simple easy techniques will transform your look in a snap. Get ready to learn exactly how to
style your square scarf like a pro. Let's do this. Okay ladies, I am working with a 35 inch square
scarf. This is the smallest size that you can use with the ties that I'm going to show you,
but you can certainly use larger as well. Number one is the front tie. We're going to start by
folding our scarf on the bias translation into a triangle. Very simple. Starting with the triangle
portion in the front, you're just going to wrap it around the back to the front and then tie it off.
Pretty simple and I'll bet you already know this one. Just arrange and adjust it until it's the
perfect look that you want. Now you can leave it out like this or what I sometimes do, especially
if I have like a v-neck sweater or a crew neck, it doesn't matter. I tuck it in for a little more of
a polished look, but it's up to you. Quick and easy, but it polishes off a plain sweater or blouse
perfectly and adds gorgeous color around your face. I also find that using scarves around your
face is another great way to utilize pieces in your closet that you may have purchased and then
thought later, this isn't really a good color on me or this isn't really a great neckline on me.
This is a way to breathe new life into those pieces without having to get rid of them.
Look number two is very simple. It's just another option. Again, we're starting with our scarf on the
bias. We're going to roll the scarf about 75%. This works optimally with a larger scarf, but I'm going
to show you this for the technique. So see I've rolled it about 75%. I have a little bit of a
triangle at the bottom. Place the triangle in front and we've got the same technique to back
to the front. Tie it loosely and do your adjusting until it's perfect for you.
Next is the front tuck. Working from this exact tie that we just did, we're going to take the knot,
put it up against your neck. Don't strangle yourself. Tuck the edge of the scarf in
to the knot. Give it a floof and I like to tuck it into my sweater. This shows more of the
luxurious scarf. I think it looks a little more abundant and luxurious and it's just another way
to show some of the different patterns. It's a subtle difference, but I actually like this style
the best. Notice how this forms a v-neck visual, which is a great way to wear a crew neck or a
sweater neck style that doesn't necessarily flatter your face. Now you've given it new
wearability by creating a pretty collar and a flattering v-neck. Number three I'm calling
So Hollywood. Again starting with our triangle on the bias fold like this.
Place it over your head. Bring one side.
Bring one side around. This is hard. Bring one side around to the side and tie it slightly off
center. I like this for days when you really just don't feel like messing with your hair,
but you still want to look good. Ladies, everybody's face is shaped differently,
so where you place this on your head is going to depend on the structure of your own face.
You can look in the mirror and either say that looks good or that looks funny. Just adjust it
accordingly. Wait before you start laughing. I love to put a big pair of sunglasses on. Sunglasses
not only do they look cool, but the right ones help to balance your face more. So if you think
that it looks goofy on you, watch. Doesn't that look cooler? I think so. Number five is called
the wrap. We're going to start with what I call the basic fold. To get the basic fold, place the
scarf on a flat surface. Fold two corners to meet in the center. Fold both sides toward the center
again and fold one side on top of the other in order to create a long organic shape. Now the wrap
starting in the front, to the back, to the front. Adjust so one side is a bit shorter than the other.
Next, cross one end over the other. Hold it in place. Take the other end, thread it through,
and adjust. This is great with a jacket, a blazer, or an open cardigan. Really easy.
Shows off the beautiful print of the scarf and the color near your face, and it just looks
luxurious. It's such an easy way to polish off any look. But if you're thinking, I love my oblong
scarves, don't miss a beat. My next video, eight chic ways to tie an oblong scarf. Have a great
weekend, ladies, and I'll see you next time.
