Dr. George Michael opened his first salon on New York City’s Madison Avenue in 1957, dedicated to long, healthy hair. As a former medical student, he developed specialized techniques and formulas that helped clients achieve the best possible version of their hair. Over the years, the George Michael Long Hair system — one-length cuts, no layers, and a focus on hair health above all else — has gained a loyal following and is practiced in salons around the world.

Today, that legacy is upheld through current owner Jessie Lynn Martinez. After beginning her career alongside Dr. George Michael’s mentorship in 1979, Jessie became the salon’s top stylist and eventually took over the business after his passing.

With support from the American Express Shop Small Resource Hub, Jessie independently runs the salon’s sole location in Beverly Hills, maintaining its nearly 70-year legacy of upholding quality care, confidence, and satisfaction.
