The Creatures Animals That Early Humans Never Met Pre Historic Humans Documentary

There are over two million species of animal alive on the planet today. That's a staggering number, a tremendous degree of diversity - and that's but one snapshot in natural history's timeline. Now, modern humans, Homo sapiens, the species we will be regarding in this video, have been on earth around three hundred thousand years - and many animal species have been and gone in that time. The first hominids appeared on the scene about six million years ago, a time when the wildlife of Planet Earth was very different to the wildlife of the modern age, with only scattered similarities. In other words, humans and their immediate relatives have encountered a staggering number of amazing animals, plenty of which are still with us today. Many more, however, are lost to the annals of time, extinct, vanished, gone. Among these species are creatures that early humans either narrowly missed out on meeting, or existed long before, which would surely be inconceivable to our ancestors.

Today, we will be focusing on these species - the animals that Homo sapiens missed out on meeting. Some of these animals had become extinct just before modern humans reached their locations, while some of them are much older; creatures who existed long before hominids even began to evolve. We will be taking an in depth look at some of the most spectacular and extreme examples of these animals; creatures that our ancestors surely would have been astounded by.
