Zambia has been the most social country so far during my travelling in pandemic. This video is from Lusaka where I caught up with Elena and Robert – a couple of friends who recently met on the road in Africa and decided to overland together Africa. In the second part of the video I'm showing you the insides of ProTech workshop where Chillie got some necessary TLC and finally had her leaking forks fixed.

Again, how are you? Wow, look at this. I know, right? She's a good girl.
How you guys been?
You never believe what happened. I actually found all the lenders here in Lusaka.
These guys are from, well, I'm gonna tell you where they're from. Ta-da, they are cooking. Elena, where are you from?
Everywhere.
Everywhere, you know, I was born in Russia though, but that's about it and the rest has been on the road.
Yeah, well done and you joined Robert. Robert is on this bike and you guys traveling together for how long?
You know, I'm ready to to kill him really, you know, too long.
Right. No, traveling with me, you know, yeah, it's not easy. So he's doing a great job, but not killing me.
We've been like what, one month, over a month now together.
This is alcohol free zone today because we have overdid it.
Confess, confess.
And this is Robert.
Right, Robert, where are you from? I'm from Austria. Yeah, of course, you're on KTM, you must be.
What are we cooking today? We're cooking today spaghetti.
Perfect.
Spaghetti bolognese,
Like the easiest thing. How are you enjoying Zambia? It's nice.
The bikes.
I got it. I'm pretending, pretending to be a woman.
This is the only thing I can, the only thing I can cook is an omelette, but it's a hell of an omelette.
That's way more than me.
Okay, we are ready for lunch.
Spaghetti.
Thank you so much for inviting me. Enjoy your meal.
So for how long you have your KTM? Well, the KTM, I bought the KTM two years ago.
In Austria. And where you've been with it? In Australia.
I actually I bought it for Australia to travel around Australia. How many K's you've done in Australia? In two months, 19,000 K's.
So you went around? No, actually I went through the middle, in the middle straight up. And did you enjoy it? I enjoyed it very well, of course, yeah.
Elena, you've been to Australia as well, haven't you? Oh, yes, I have, not on a motorcycle.
Did you enjoy it? Yes, yes, swimming naked everywhere. Yeah, it was, it was wonderful.
Guys, I just want to ask you this question. So how did you guys meet?
I broke his bike.
What did you do? Not intentionally though, but I needed to go to, I needed to go to Soussouffle, to the desert and
everything was very expensive. So I needed someone to take me there and I
broke his bike. He had to come back and yeah, we went together.
And you've been riding, you've been riding bodies since. So now where are you heading?
To Mozambique. And then who knows? And then, you know, maybe South Africa, right? Yeah, we'll see.
The road, you know, the road is, is a mystery. So you go, you go, you go.
So nice to meet you. You are the first overlanders I've met in like four months.
Well, actually over a year because since I've been back to Africa, you know, in November, I haven't come across any overlanders.
So you're the first one. So I'm so pleased that I could meet you.
All the best guys. Yes, you too.
It was so nice to meet you guys. Yes, me too. Yes. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I know. I'm so sad you guys are leaving tomorrow. I thought I'm going to have a chance to hang out with you a little bit longer.
Well, um, we can not drink that much again.
We weren't drinking today. I swear.
Just the juice. Just the juice. No, just the juice today. Just the juice. Yes. Yes.
I swear.
So long. I'm going to miss you. I'm going to miss you too. Good luck.
Look after yourself. Be good. Be safe. Yeah, be good.
That could be a problem.
All right, so now
I'm going to test
Robert's KTM
And Robert wants to have a go at Chile
Sorry, I'm just gonna move it here
Grass is very soft. Thank you. Reverse gear
Do I need to know anything about this bike?
Except for this is the starter
Right
Here goes adventure
Right
Start this down there. This one? Yeah. I think it's broken. What?
Sounds broken. Sounds broken?
Oh, no, sorry KTM
Oh, this is light
Totally different, isn't it? Completely, hey
Your one is lighter, but you don't have the luggage. It's different. It's so yeah
Actually, those bikes are the same. Same weight. Almost the same weight. Yeah, but different engine torque is different
But you know what I like on the engine if you go on three to four thousand
It's very smooth. If you go to six seven thousand, it's like
The hell. Yeah, it's really
Accelerating is so unbelievable and that's that's really fun, you know, but yeah now you're heavy
Look after yourself and until next time. Yeah, we'll be in touch
Maybe we'll meet somewhere around. For sure
I'll be here around Africa
Bye
Finally it's time to fix up Chillie a bit so she's due for
The service basic service. I'm going to change engine oil and filter and
And I hope Moose because that's the name of the mechanic Moose we're going to fix my forks apparently he's
Ex-KTM mechanic, so I'm pretty sure he'll he know what he's doing
So, yeah, I'm looking forward to fixing that
All right, we're nearly there somewhere
Here
Hello
Nice to meet you finally. How are you?
All right, and you?
Thank you very much for squeezing me in
Busy schedule. This is amazing
What are these bikes? Well, these are all uh motocross. Yeah, but what are you doing here? You guys still racing?
Well, my daughter races
But i'm just waiting for the spare because we're gonna be on the weekend we have a race up in copper belt
Oh, yeah, you're going all the way there. Yeah, and then uh
Have friends and these are what we do is motorbikes. So
So this is you just service people's bikes people's bikes. Yeah
Every time when i'm servicing my bike
I just do like a little interview with the mechanics because I think it's interesting for people to see what you guys
You know what services you can find in in africa people think you have you know
You're pretty much on your own and you have to deal with stuff by yourself, but it's actually not true
This is like a proper proper, you know workshop and apparently, um, you were working for KTM before right?
No, my son-in-law for KTM
With a gentleman called ray wilson who started off KTM in zambia and then he passed away I think around about
2016 somewhere there and then my son-in-law and ray wilson's wife took over the company
Company closed and then we started up our own
Thing running the same thing with bikes, but my son-in-law john luke was in it long before I was
And then um when we started up all the things went a bit slow because of the corona
Then he managed to find a good job
in cabway
So he basically left me doing the work
Running the servicing of all motorbikes
And majority of your customers i'm guessing they're enduro riders. You work with local people
Yeah, well mostly mx riders which is almost the same thing. Yeah and enduro
Yeah combined. Is it big?
Yes, it's big it could get bigger it's growing
For some time it was
It was very dormant, but it seems to be growing now
The mx and enduro in zambia and you mentioned your your daughter is racing. My daughter races. Yes, kaley price
She's just turned 16 on the 10th. Yeah, and are there a lot of women or girls? We got about
seven girls
that are all
Riding and doing well, that's so nice. I'm, so glad I came here. Thank you so much for this little interview. Thank you very much
You reckon we can calculate how how much is this and how much would be in another one for one? Yeah
I got it not much. Hey
No, not much, but i've got a measuring jug that I normally use here. Okay
That's it. Yeah, that was easy
So here's your seal there see those scratches there
Yes
Oh, yeah, I can even now in the daylight. I can see it from this side as well
And the thing is that you can feel it. I know
You know
This one is the second one. It looks much much better
Although we do have some scratches, but it's not leaking. So we're leaving it now. We'll be polishing tool. Number one
This kaley
Hello kaley, nice to meet you
I've heard you are a legend
In your own bike. So, um, tell me how long you've been racing for?
Um, two and a half years two and a half years racing and you when did you start riding bike?
Um, two and a half years. Ah 13, but I started on a small monkey bike. So pretty much six months later. You started to race
Well done. So what was your first bike monkey and then and then I went on to an 85 ktm
Nice and then I got a 135
Yeah, and this is your your bike now, how you find it honda
Very nice better than ktm
Is it? Yes
First time I hear someone saying that
Ktm is good like a religion, hey sometimes for some people. Yeah, but that's awesome. Have you been anywhere abroad?
No, not yet, but you're aiming for south africa probably, right?
That would be a good experience I think for you. Well, thank you so much for this little interview
There you go, you're banging it just i'm pushing the ceiling right
And then you don't have any sand you don't have any grip yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's soft you don't scratch it
And our bike motor takes kick bike is off
It's clever. I love that
And he made that yeah, he just designed it he did well done
Bottle the way to go
She's so clean now
End of the shoot
Thank you, thank you, thank you
All right, i'll see you
In a couple of weeks when I roll out my tires when they get here. All right. Thank you so much. Take care
Until next time. Yeah
Let's test her, right?
Bye
See you friday. Thank you
