Among his most celebrated works are the Brandenburg Concertos and the Orchestral Suites—masterpieces that capture the energy, elegance, and intellectual brilliance of 18th-century music.

The early 18th century was an era of transformation. Europe’s courts were vibrant centers of culture, where music was both a form of entertainment and a symbol of prestige. Composers were expected to create works that not only showcased the skill of musicians but also reflected the grandeur of their patrons. Bach, serving as Kapellmeister in Köthen, found himself in an ideal position to experiment with instrumental forms. Unlike his later years in Leipzig, where sacred music dominated his output, his time in Köthen allowed him to focus on purely instrumental works, free from liturgical constraints.
