Hey guys, today I'm going to show you how to achieve this matte smokey eye paired with
glowy skin, a slightly bronzed glowy body and as it is the festive season I'll give
you the option of pairing this with a red lip.
So if you want to see how I achieve this makeup look then keep on watching.
I'm going to start with the body and I'm going to take the Vita Liberata Body Blur.
Here I'm using the shade medium but it is available in 5 shades, the lightest being
lighter light and the deepest being deeper dark.
This has a light reflecting diffusion on the skin so it gives this beautiful glow, you'll
see all the celebrities wearing this on the red carpet.
It really does give a beautiful instant tan but it's transfer resistant so it won't transfer
onto your clothes but it also washes off at the end of the night.
Using a body brush it takes no time at all to apply this to the skin and it instantly
dries so you can pop your clothes straight back on.
This is something you could take to the office for example if you're going out for a party
at the end of the day and you can just whack this on in the toilets and you're good to
go.
It's like an instant tan, it's so even and it just looks beautiful on the skin, you'll
see it just gives this wonderful glow.
This is also a great option for brides.
Don't forget to use what's left in the bristles to also take that over your hands or any skin
that's visible.
I'm also going to pair that with the Vita Liberata Beauty Blur Face in medium as well,
I want that to match the body.
It's akin to something like the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter, this provides
a glow without the shine, it also gives a blurring finish to the skin and it's a bit
like a BB effect, it's very lightweight, you could wear this completely on its own
especially if you're somebody with drier skin.
I'm being strategic around the circumference of my face and using what's left on the bristles
through the centre because I am an oily combination, I don't want too much glow through the centre.
I'm working on the outer perimeter and then again using what's left on those bristles
to pull that forward.
This is going to give a beautiful glow underneath our base makeup because I am going to be using
something that's quite light today.
I am using a Wengos foundation brush, I will list and link everything I've used in the
description bar so if you want to try anything for yourself you can shop directly through
the links in the description.
Over that I'm going to apply the new Suede Glass Skin Foundation.
The shade I'm using is 05 Light Neutral and there's around 15 shades available in this
but because it is so lightweight, it's a little bit more versatile, each shade would fit maybe
2-3 different skin tones.
On the website it says it is a hybrid between skincare and foundation with a silky elastic
texture that feels comfortable and looks like second skin and I would completely agree with
that.
It definitely is like a second skin.
Even though it's very lightweight, it's not as lightweight as a BB.
For example, I think this is a little bit more coverage than my Dr Jart Premium Beauty
Balm.
This formula is also very buildable.
I've tried this on its own without the Vita Liberata Beauty Blur underneath and I've found
this to be ever so slightly more mattifying.
I did not need to powder when I wore this on its own whereas even if I use the Dr Jart
I still need to powder.
With this, I just found my skin was a little bit more matte.
I still looked luminous but I didn't need to powder so there was something there that
I noticed whereas in this tutorial, having the Vita Liberata Beauty Balm underneath as
well as using the Charlotte Tilbury Skin Tint on top for some added glow, I definitely needed
to powder.
So even though it is a glass skin foundation, again when I used it completely on its own,
I didn't find it to be too luminescent.
If you've watched my previous two tutorials, you know I've really been enjoying combining
my Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint with my By Terry Hyaluronic Serum Concealer
just on my cheeks.
So I've popped that glow on the cheek area and now using the concealer I'm going in over
my eyelids, around the contour of the eyes, over the Charlotte Tilbury glow very lightly
so it doesn't go onto the wand and a little bit in the areas that I get redness.
Then I'm using a fluffy blending brush by BK Beauty to blend this in around the areas
without the glow first so over the eyelids, around the eye contour, making sure I lift
the outer corners of the eyes because this area tends to get a bit red and thin as we
age.
I'm making sure I blend these areas out first before I tackle the areas that have the glow.
I don't want to mix these up, the glow only wants to be on the cheeks, these other areas
are going to be matte.
I always like to go back in with my damp beauty blender to press over everything to make sure
there are no streaky marks and now I've changed my brush to my Sigma F03 I think it is, it's
the highlighter brush, I'm going to use that to buff it into the cheeks and then I'm going
back in with my foundation brush over the top to make sure again there's no streaky
marks but also it's got that residual foundation in the bristles and that helps with the blending.
To add some sculpting to the face I'm going to use another cream based product because
this adds to the glow but it also melds into the makeup that we've already got onto the
skin.
I'm using the Nudestix Nudismatte in the shade Bondi Bell which is the sister shade to Bondi
Bay, this is slightly cooler.
Using a very light hand, this is barely touching the skin, I'm using my foundation brush in
circular motions to buff this into the skin and then once again going in with my beauty
blender to make sure everything is seamless.
The placement for this is just around the hairline and my cheekbones to add that warmth
so that my face now matches my body.
We still want to keep the glow but we definitely need to set the skin so that it lasts all
day.
I'm going to go in with the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder in the Ultra Blur formulation.
I am going to be applying some matte eyeshadows to the lid so I'm going to set this area first,
you don't have to, you can go straight in with matte shades but I know they can be problematic
for some people and they find them harder to blend out so if you haven't used an eyeshadow
primer, setting the skin when you've only applied foundation is going to be the best
way to blend out your matte eyeshadows.
Here I'm only using what's left on the powder puff over the cheeks because I don't want
to completely eradicate that glow but I'm going to tone it down slightly using the residual
powder in the powder puff.
My natural glow is going to start to come through as the day goes on so we are starting
with this nice matte base.
Taking the Makeup By Mario Master Mattes Palette Original, I'm going to move on to the eyes.
I'm starting off by mixing the soft white shade with the warm cream on the Ref and Number
33 brush and I'm buffing this on the mobile lid from the inner corner all the way to the
outer corner.
This is going up to where the socket is which is where the eye naturally creases.
This is going to be our base colour.
For me this is a nude and you can adjust this to suit your skin tone, you can add a little
bit more of the cream in, a little bit of the warm sand, it just depends on your skin
tone.
I'm also going to take that on the inner corner of the eye by adding a little bit more white
to our combination.
The brush I'm using for this is the Ref and Number 13 brush.
Going back to my palette I'm going to take Matte Number 6 which is this neutral brown
and I'm working this in circular motions on the outer third of that mobile lid and just
buffing it slightly into the socket.
The brush I'm using is the MAC 286S which is a synthetic blending brush.
It has duo fibres which means the very end fibres are slightly longer than the lower
fibres so they have a slightly white tip.
It means it picks up less product so you don't overload the eye and it just has this beautiful
way of doing all the blending work for you.
So just start to use whatever residual eyeshadow is in those bristles to start pulling the
colour up and out to give a lifted look to the eye.
So we're aiming for the tail of the eyebrow depending on your eye shape.
You could create more of a rounded finish.
If you have quite small eyes and not a lot of space between your lid and your eyebrow
then just keep this on the mobile lid itself but keep it on the outer third and make all
of this a lot smaller.
And also take as much of this as you want.
I'm going to build on this but you can stop wherever is more comfortable for you and your
skin tone and how much you're used to wearing.
I'm using what's left on my No. 33 brush that had the cream and white left in the bristles
just to work that over the outer edge.
I don't want the smoke to be too intense on the actual eyelid.
I still want it there but I'm going to keep toning it back slightly with whatever's left
in those bristles.
And then that smoke is going to start to build up on the outer third in that socket.
But we're still keeping it slightly muted on the mobile lid for now.
I'm now going to start working in with a deeper shade.
This is No. 11 which is a deep cool brown and I'm taking a small blending brush.
This one is by Blank Canvas Cosmetics.
I wish more brush companies made tiny brushes like this.
And I'm working that really close to the root of the eyelashes on that outer third building
up this little dark area.
I'm then going to take a mixture of this shade with a little bit more of the matte No. 6
which is the neutral brown.
And I'm working this again on that outer third but then using what's left on the bristles
to start working in circular motions into the socket to start intensifying the socket
area.
I'm using a very light hand so it doesn't apply too much product in one area.
Otherwise it would be very difficult to blend out.
We want it to look kind of airbrushed because that's what a smoke is.
It's a graduation of colour.
As I'm building up that smoke on the outer edge I've noticed I really want to make the
lid a little bit brighter so I'm reapplying some of the white mixed with the cream.
I'm taking the neutral brown No. 6 on a small smudger brush and taking that underneath the
lower eyelashes all the way towards the inner corner keeping it slightly lighter at the
tear duct and more intense towards the outer edge.
I then decided I also wanted to do this on the top lid again keeping it close to the
root of the eyelashes.
This is all a work in progress.
This is how I build a look.
I don't know exactly what it is I'm going to do.
And then I might need to change things as I go along.
So at this stage I decided I wanted to apply that neutral brown along the root of the eyelashes.
I personally like a winged liner.
I like to create a lifted finish to the eyes but again if you want to keep this quite round
you don't have to apply a winged liner.
I'm going to use the Anastasia Beverly Hills brown liner.
This is quite a warm shade and I really do like this.
If you wanted a deeper shade you could use Sepia Ink by Bobbi Brown which is a nice muddy
coral brown.
You could also use the Wet n Wild Mega Liner in Dark Brown.
You'll notice that it's quite warm on its initial lay down but as it dries it goes slightly
cooler in its finish.
You can see here where it's dried it looks slightly deeper right.
You can see how it's cooled off slightly.
I'm going to smoke this out a little bit.
I'm using the APH number 3 brush and a little bit of Nudestix Hot Stone and I'm just buffing
this over the top.
You can see how it creates this beautiful smoky finish.
I'm now taking the Lisa Eldridge Seamless Glide Eye Pencil in the shade Burnt Umber.
If you're on the hunt for an eyeliner that goes on so soft that delivers the most intense
pigment payoff but stays in place all day, doesn't transfer, doesn't move, these are
the pencils for you.
You see when I drew that on the colour payoff was so intense, it's so opaque and this just
lasts all day.
I've used that to tightline as well as apply that across my waterline and now I'm going
to give my eyelashes a curl ready for mascara.
I will show you this look with mascara alone but I'm going to pop on some individual lashes
just to give a little bit of a flirtatious finish.
That's my preference.
You don't have to do that.
I'm using the Kitten Lash Mascara by Lisa Eldridge.
This has so much flexibility.
It doesn't flake and it just gives drama so as you can see this is how this makeup looks
just with mascara.
It probably looks a little bit spidery up close but from a distance it's a great looking
mascara.
It gives all the drama that you need.
Again, I am going to apply some falsies.
Here I've applied some dovetail or fishtail eyelashes, maybe about 7 or 8 across the entire
lash line.
It only takes a couple of extra minutes to do this and I feel like it really does add
to the look.
Moving back onto skin, I wanted to take this blush by Nudestix, it's called Bare Back.
I'd never used it before so I was determined to use it however it was a little bit cool
so I mixed in a little bit of the cream bronzer.
That is the beauty of makeup.
You can do whatever you want to do.
You can mix the colours that work for you so just have fun with it, play with it.
Using a stipple motion, this is going onto the back half of the cheek and I'll use whatever's
left to take that up into the temple area.
I'm using my BK Beauty 106 foundation brush to apply this and you can use my discount
code if you want to try these brushes for yourself, it'll get you 10% off.
I'm now going to move onto the lips.
I'm taking my Makeup Forever Artist Colour in the shade Endless Cacao and I'm going for
the full 90s supermodel vibe.
We have that kind of matte eye going on, it's supermodel smoke so I thought, you know what,
I'm going to do the lips the same but I am going to give you a festive option after this.
I'm following my natural lip line to enhance them.
I don't want to over line the lips here at all so I'm just going to follow my natural
lip line and then use my finger to pull the border inwards so that it softens it.
This is quite a dark pencil but used very softly, it can give that sculpted finish and
defined finish to the lips without looking too intense.
You can also use a brush, I'm just showing you here, to blend your lip line.
Try not to blend it outside of the border, keep it in the border.
A diffused finish can look nice when you're using colours but not necessarily with brown.
I want to keep it nude in the centre so I'm going to take this lip gloss by Anastasia
Beverly Hills in the shade Undressed.
I'm going to pop this on first and then I'm going to blot it off with paper.
You can see it's a similar colour to what we've got on the eyes, it's got that creamy
vibe.
The initial lay down is just too intense.
So we blot it off and then we use our brush to blend this in or feather it in to the diffused
line that we've created on the inside border of our lip line.
It's super 90s and I really love this finish, I think it's so pretty.
So now let's make it more festive.
I'm going to take this lipstick by Lisa Eldridge in the shade Velvet Duchess.
This is described as a clear, clean, deep, garnet red.
It's one of those shades that really enhances the white of your teeth.
It's a shade that really suits everybody and it's one of those lipsticks that you can wear
with real minimal makeup.
Just mascara and let the lips do the talking.
It does work well with a smokey eye, I am going to show you how to change the blush
to match this lipstick but it also really does look beautiful with minimal makeup.
Here I'm just crisping up the lip line for a very defined lip using the matching lip
pencil by Lisa Eldridge in the shade Duchess.
I'm now going to use this lipstick on the back of my hand for blush.
So I'm bouncing my brush into it and only applying a very light amount from the bristles
onto the back half of my cheek and then buffing the remainder off onto a towel so the brush
is more or less clean.
Now we can blend that small amount that's on the cheeks.
I don't want to blend it too far out so I'm going to use my sponge as well to bounce over
exactly where it is.
That way we don't become a big colourful mess.
This will just tone it down ever so slightly and then we can take our foundation brush
and just press over this and again it will help mute it slightly.
Now our cheeks have a similar hue to our lips so everything looks a bit more cohesive.
I have a whole tutorial on matching your lips to your blush perfectly every time and I will
link that on screen for you now.
I hope you guys loved this tutorial as much as I did.
