It's another special night at Uniqlo Field at Dodger Stadium. Blake Snell bobblehead night,
but it's not just Blake Snell's bobblehead that's going to be between the lines. It's
Blake Snell himself for the very first time in 2026. Snellzilla takes the mound.
What a tough week, right? You lose two on the Mount Rushmore in Braves history,
Ted Turner, and then just a few days later, the great skipper number six, Bobby Cox.
We lost a good man and amazing manager in Bobby Cox today.
Just the 12th regular season start in the Dodger uniform for Snell, but his rankings
across Major League Baseball since 2023, the year he won his second Cy Young Award,
top three across the board. He gets ahead of Dubon, no balls and two strikes,
and Dubon softly toward the middle, off the glove of Kim, and it'll be a single for Dubon
to get the party started. All four in the first two Braves reach the start, two on,
nobody out in the first. Ozzie Little-Tapper, this could work out well. Everybody's safe.
Will Smith can't do anything with it. It's a 30-foot single for Ozzie, and the bases are
juiced with nobody out. Sixteen pitches thrown from Snell. He has yet to record an out,
and now you have Matt Olsen with the bases loaded and nobody out. Got him! Big first out
against a tough customer. This is really close to the worst thing that could happen in the first
inning after coming back. Bases still loaded, one down for Austin Riley. Grounder here to the left
side. Kim to second. That's the only one they'll get, and the Braves are on the board first as
Dubon comes home. That's three. Bases are loaded with nobody out, and Snell limits the damage to
just one. Second start of the season, C.J. Ford and Spencer Strider. He's probably pretty happy
to get out of Colorado, something we had talked about, and clearly for Spencer Strider, the
command was not there. Six walks, that's not the name of his game, so we know he's very excited
to get back to work in between starts and get ready for this one here this evening.
Swing and a miss. What a start for Strider. 97. He gets it by Otani. I'm feeling it early on.
You can tell with the body language. 2-0 pitch. This one rolled into left field. That's going to
get down for a hit. And this has been kind of typical of Strider, but the last couple of years
when he's been healthy in pitching, when he falls behind in a count, as he did right there 2-0 to
Will Smith, behind in a count, he's given up a 4-10 batting average against him. That's a good
change-up right there to take care of Tucker and the Dodgers in the first. It took Snell a little
bit to get rolling in that first inning back. Eli White runs really well, and he's going to beat
this out. So the Braves with a couple of infield singles. Ozzie had one last sitting, and now Eli
White here in the second. White stays put here. Mateo shoots it to right. It's a single. Back-to-back
hits. And the Braves again with a couple of base runners here in inning number two.
Fastball and it's ball four. The bases are loaded for a second straight inning.
Blake Snell threw 25 pitches in the first. This is going to be his 25th pitch of the second.
Bases loaded. Two down. 0-2 pitch. Ozzie reaches for it and delivers it out to left field for a
two-RBI single. How clutch is that? He brought out his nine-iron, engulfed it out to Hernandez
to make it 3-0. Down inside to the backstop and an extra base for both base runners.
Two more in scoring position. Olsen 0-1 with a strikeout. Braves are going to add on. First,
it was Ozzie with a two-RBI hit. Matt Olsen right behind him. And just like that, it is 5-0 Atlanta
in the second. Strider two strikeouts in the first and looking sharper tonight than he did
in Colorado. Swing and a miss. That curveball is becoming one of Strider's best buddies.
And Strider is in a zone right now. That's four strikeouts for Strider. He sets the Dodgers down
in order in the second. Two up and two down for Snell. 2-2 and a ground ball past the mound to
his left. Kimmett short has it. Sends it wild to the Braves' dugout. A horrible throw by Kimm.
Strike three. He strands the two-out air. Keeps the line at five. Jack Dreyer comes on for the
17th time this season. Blake Snell pitches three innings in his debut. Dubon has two hits already.
So Dreyer comes into the game and Dubon greets him with a single to start the fourth inning.
1-1. Ground ball to second. Freeland has it. Throws to Kimm. One on the first. Double play.
4-6-3. And that cleans up the leadoff base hit. Two outs. Base is now empty.
As Albies taps one to the left side. Dreyer quickly over. Throws a fastball to Freeman.
And that's the final out. A lot of ball game left. They got to start making Spencer Strider work.
So Smith has been the only guy to give Strider an issue. He reached with a single in the first.
Now walking the fourth. Ozzie is right there. On to second for one. Mateo to Olsen. But the
throw is wide. And Tucker escapes the tag. Bouncer towards Riley. He takes. Across it goes.
And we head to the fifth. Thirteenth appearance for Enriquez. 1-0, 438 in the URA.
It is low ball four. He threw him a sinker and walked it.
A one out walk. Michael Harris hoped for two. But he had four hits last night.
Hits this one pretty hard toward the gap. And nobody is going to get there. It's going to
bounce up against the wall. Riley's on his horse. He is coming home safe. Six to nothing.
A fitting score in honor of Bobby Cox right now with the Braves on top.
Shot to third. Muncy dives and makes the play. Saves a run. But Atlanta did stretch across another.
6-0. Nearly 7-0. 3-2 pitch. Misses low. And it's the second walk allowed by Strider.
Under the glove of Strider. Mateo will get the out at second base.
Spencer Strider. Look up here in the fifth inning. He's got the six punch outs. He's only
given up one hit. That single to Will Smith with two outs in the first. He's got a six to nothing
lead. He's figured something out tonight. That slider is working. Strikeout lucky number seven
for number nine. Pitch went out on the top of the six for the Braves. Swings and pops it up.
Shallow center field. Backpedaling out there is Alex Freeland the second baseman. He'll make the
catch for out number two. Enriquez returns the favor. He drops a slider in on him. Swing and a
miss. Strike three. Strider has done his part tonight. Seven strikeouts. He's ahead of Otani
here 0-2. And he sets him down with gas. That is twice that Strider has blown the fastball by the
four time MVP. At first that battle was 97 this one here at 96 with again a good vertical. You
see how the barrel goes underneath the baseball for Shohei Otani. That tells you that Spencer
Strider's fastball has got that carry you're looking for. High fly ball. Right center field.
Harris and Yastrzemski coming together. That's Michael's ball. Makes the catch out at right
center. Not the easiest time to look up and find a baseball. We're in the twilight here in L.A.
But Michael able to spot it. Smith sends it out to right. Yastrzemski over toward the line.
It found ground. He's got it. Strider six innings. Shot out. One hit. Braves in command six to
nothing. Now it's on to the bullpen after six strong innings from Strider. And here's the
lefty lead. Popped up. Just back of the infield cutout to short. Jorge Mateo is going to come
down. Makes a two-handed catch. First pitch swing and fly ball. Got some carry to it to right field.
But Yastrzemski backpedals. Makes the catch shy of the warning track and two down. Ground ball
to third base. Riley's got it. Thought about second. Now thinks about first base. Throws that
way. Gets the out. There's no one covering second or else he would have gone the short route. But
he gets the out anyway. There's the 1-0 pitch. Mateo rolls it up the middle. Second hit for Jorge
Mateo tonight. So two on here with two out. Drake Baldwin a couple of walks tonight. Through the
right side. Mateo is going to be waved home. Call comes up. Throwing. It is late. It is seven to
nothing. Baldwin drives in number 31 on this season. Nice piece of hitting here on this 92
mile an hour fastball. All right. Ronaldo Lopez coming in here in a seven to nothing ball game
in the eighth. A couple of relief appearances so far for Ronaldo that have gone well. Three one is
inside. There's a lead off walk here in the bottom of the eighth. Ground ball to short could be two.
Mateo steps on the bag. Cuts it loose. And a double play. Shoots it into left field base here.
And you were right where that pitch was. He was looking to swing still. Yeah that was a good two
or three balls above the strike zone. But he is swinging and missing here to in the eighth. The
Braves shutting out the Dodgers. Seven to nothing. And now Lopez will try to get the final three outs.
And call nails this toward the left field corner. That's an extra base hit for the Dodgers.
And a runner in scoring position. Well the consolation prize for the Dodgers would be
to avoid their second shutout loss of the season. This ball's back and the Dodgers are on the ball.
Andy Páez. His ninth of the year. The Dodgers get the zero off the board. A two run shot for Páez.
It is seven to two. And is hitless tonight. Swings and takes care of that as he knocks it
up the middle for his first single. Grounder to Matt Olsen. This should do it. No he beat it out.
So Walt Weiss holding his hand up. The Braves don't have any challenges left. This is a crew
chief review. Jim sprinting down the line. After review the call is overturned. The runner is out.
How about that. Braves win. This one is for number six tonight.
