There is a great tradition in Jurassic films that I feel like all the actors, you have to master what I like to call the Jurassic face.
It's that moment whenever you see a dinosaur that's so beautiful and awe-inspiring. You're exactly right.
I was going to ask if you guys would give me your best Jurassic face.
Well, your Jurassic face is more terror.
Yeah.
Hers is like...
Mine is like...
Yeah.
And mine's like...
And you're very good at that, by the way, because you have to do it over and over again. You've kind of perfected it by this point.
Yeah.
But in a way, you kind of get the Alan Grant. You almost get the...
Yeah, the wonder and awe.
Yeah, exactly right.
Well, mentioning the great Dr. Alan Grant, you know, I know that, like me, you grew up, you're a massive fan of these movies.
And I'd love to know, just as an actor, if there was a moment from that original movie that you most wish you could have been in, just to know what it would have felt like to be in one of those scenes.
What's the movie? What's the moment?
I would have loved to have done... The scene where Julianne Moore is, like, treating...
Oh, you're going Lost World.
Yeah. So, the scene where she's treating the dinosaur inside the camper, like, that just looked... And it was a whole animatronic, you know...
I'm sure, at the time, probably there was... It was less magical, because it was a lot of, like, wait, the animatronic's not working, and, like, we have to reset, and whatever.
But it looked just so amazing. I would have liked to have done that.
Well, speaking of, have you guys seen Dolores walking around?
Yeah!
I mean, Dolores is walking around, so I gotta ask, look, I know sometimes movie stars can be temperamental, and sometimes they throw fits, and sometimes you can't get them out of their trailer.
How big of a diva was Dolores on set?
You know, she was good if you gave her her red licorice, right?
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah.
Yeah, sometimes she had late nights.
Yeah, the late nights, she would get really cranky, so you have to... Yeah, she's very food-driven.
Yeah.
Candy.
Which I guess could be good, but, you know, sometimes we forgot to bring it on set, and that wasn't good.
She was a diva.
Isn't that all we can ask for is just to get our daily dose of licorice? Like, isn't that all we want?
I have a question. Do you even like red licorice?
To be honest, I don't.
No! Well, you sold it very well. You sold it in the movie.
I've gotta ask, talking about divas, bigger diva, Dolores or Robert Downey Jr.?
That's a tough one, because also, he needs his licorice, too. You know what I mean? Are we talking pre-licorice?
Yeah, exactly. The licorice is basically the game-changer.
That's right.
So obviously, it goes without saying, a lot of the reactions for this movie are already coming out, and people are loving it, and the reviews are great,
but is there any part of you that is marginally afraid about what Colin and Michael might say on Weekend Update when SNL comes back?
Is there any Jurassic Park... Do you see his wheels turning?
No, that's the thing. You can't see them. They just come at you like a raptor from the side.
We actually screened Jurassic for all of the cast and some of the writers just a few weeks ago, before I hosted the season finale,
so it got a lot of good reviews, so I'm not expecting any shade.
Excellent, which is great. So I mentioned how much I loved the original whenever it came out.
I was five years old. My parents took me to see it, opening weekend, as you do for a five-year-old.
Have you decided how old the kids have to be to see it? Is five too young?
I don't know. What do you think?
For me, I loved the Jurassic Park movie, and I was younger. I was probably six when I watched it.
And were you scared or was it okay?
I was definitely scared at the moment, but it's something you can remember.
It's something I can look back on and be like, oh, I remember. I was scared at that moment.
But it didn't haunt me in my dreams, which was nice.
I would say it's not creepy. It's thrilling. And there's jump scares, but it's family-appropriate, for sure.
And my daughter's going to be 11. 100% would take her. She's pumped to see it.
My son is four. We could show Cosmo some parts.
I think if you show him some parts, the D-rex might be a little concerning for a four-year-old,
but I think it's something he can remember.
There you go. Is it a trauma memory or a good memory?
A little bit of both, you know?
Can we call you every time we have a question? I feel like you would be a great rating system.
She really is. So many people ask me, and I'm like, I don't know. I'm going to refer them to you.
Ask Audrina, and it could be a rating system. I'd love this for you.
M-P-A-A. The A is just for Audrina. I'm loving this.
Speaking of great, thrilling moments, as someone who's a fan of that original novel, I just re-read it, actually.
The T-rex sequence, I've been waiting for this moment for 30-plus years for this moment.
What was your favorite memory of going basically toe-to-toe with the T-rex?
I'd say that's one of my favorite scenes to shoot
because the rest of the Delgado family actually had to paddle for this,
so they had to give it all their strength.
They showed me, like, look here.
They actually did 1 o'clock, 2 o'clock, 3 o'clock to look for the T-rex.
I found it really cool at the end and how it flipped us all over, and it looked so realistic.
Can I ask you, did Manuel actually, like, how much effort did he put into paddling? Minimal?
So he just leveled the boat to make sure it wouldn't start turning one way,
and then David and Luna probably had the most arm workout and back workout out of everybody
because they were really pushy.
So were they sore by the end of the day?
Oh, yeah. I think at one point it was their stunt doubles.
Because they couldn't paddle anymore?
Because they couldn't paddle anymore and it was the end of the day,
but I was still there because I just had to scream.
I love that you're screaming to them, paddle, hurry, paddle harder.
Like, you're the one that just gets to tell them to keep going.
At Die Hard Jurassic Fam, was there any jealousy that you don't get to be in the T-rex scene?
Yes. Definitely watching it, I was like, man, you want the, like, roar,
or like, you want to feel like the hot breath in your face.
They have to do little wind machines because it's breathing on you.
Yeah, that kind of, that's really fun.
What I'm hearing is Rebirth Part 2.
Whoa.
I'm just, I'm putting it out there.
What's happening in the Rebirth Part 2?
Yeah.
Like, in what circumstances could we go back?
We have found seven reasons to go back.
We can find an eighth, I promise you.
People who are far more talented than me would do it.
Okay, I'm going to cut you guys loose on this because there was a moment in the movie watching this last night.
I told you, this is my favorite movie of all time.
I grew up with this.
But something, there's something specific that brings me back.
What movie?
What do you guys think of when you hear this?
I actually have been told they actually played this on set at one point.
Yeah.
We had a, we would also just sing it sometimes.
Like, it would just come out.
Are there lyrics to the?
Well, more of like a.
Yeah.
I think we had, like, a good tune, all of us.
Like, we all were in sync sometimes.
And it's, like, just, you felt like it was.
The majesty.
Yep.
The majesty of the moment.
Yeah, the John Williams music definitely, like, takes me back to being a little bit younger than you.
Nine, ten years old.
And I was, like, at the theater.
I know I'd seen movies before in the theater, but I don't remember any of them.
I just remember Jurassic.
And I remember that song playing as, like, the brachiosaurus heard, like, first rises up.
And that moment is just, it's, like, chills.
Goosebumps.
You guys just asked what the eighth film in the series could be.
You feel like you just answered your question.
You were singing on set.
Jurassic Park.
The musical.
Let's do a whole musical.
And a one.
And a two.
Why did we not think of that?
Dinosaur.
Ah!
Musical.
That sounds like a billion dollar idea, right?
You know, like, Universal loves crossing over, like a Mamma Mia, Jurassic World crossover.
Give the people what they want.
Love it.
Guys, I cannot thank you enough for your time.
I know you have a super busy day, but I love this movie and I love you guys.
So seriously, thank you for having fun with me.
Thank you.
You guys are fantastic.
