A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck Eastern Samar, Philippines, on Monday afternoon, May 4, 2026. According to a report from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the earthquake struck at 2:09 p.m. in San Julian, Eastern Samar. The quake had a depth of 10 kilometers.

PHIVOLCS recorded Instrumental Intensities in several areas, including Can-Avid, Eastern Samar, Dulag, Alangalang, Carigara, Leyte, and Gandara, Samar. PHIVOLCS also stated that damage and aftershocks are expected due to the earthquake.
