Train Day is held annually on the Saturday closest to the May 10 anniversary of the 1869 "Golden Spike" transcontinental railroad completion.

The “Locomotion” is an enduring example of the dance-song genre; much of the lyrics are devoted to a description of the dance itself, usually performed as a type of line dance.
