Fur play - otter and fox spend a 'night out on the town' together (fun story) (UK) 23⧸Nov⧸2025
Here's a fun story of the day. CCTV captures fox and otter’s tour of Lincoln. Close
CCTV cameras in Lincoln have captured a fox and an otter running around the city's streets.
The two animals were seen wandering around Brayford Pool and the High Street areas in the early hours.
City of Lincoln Council said the footage resembled a Christmas advert and showed "an unlikely friendship blossoming".
It is not clear from the footage where the animals had come from or what they were doing.
Steve Nichol, the chief executive of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Park, in Boston, described the scenes as "strange" and said they had to be seen to be believed.

Also we'll introduce you to a couple of unexpected pals the otter and the fox on a night out on the
town all captured on CCTV. Later this morning as I mentioned we will speak to a farmer and
cancer survivor he had testicular cancer not prostate cancer as I said but he is supporting
the campaign and we'll hear from him at quarter past eight. But before that um some interesting
pictures here CCTV cameras in Lincoln captured some very unusual activity in the early hours
it's not what you might think. No it's a playful chase between a fox and an otter which was picked
up on multiple cameras as they frolicked around the city's deserted streets. Jessica Lane's been
taking a look. Two friends out on the town in the early hours but not the nightlife they were
expecting to see on Lincoln's CCTV cameras. So they saw this footage of the otter and the fox sort of
dancing around and playing with each other and they knew they were watching something really
special and really unusual. The pictures are absolutely delightful and I think it just shows
that even the wildlife love having a night out in Lincoln it's an absolutely fantastic place to be.
I've seen foxes on hundreds of occasions I've seen otters pretty much on 50 or 60 occasions
in the UK I have never ever seen the two together. People will watch the footage and go are they
going to attack each other will it be the ultimate death match? No they're one's ignoring the other
and one's slightly bemused and really curious. I don't think for a second it thinks it's food
it just doesn't know what it is. Yeah really amazing to see the two together and
I think a triumph of conservation really. We get quite a lot of wildlife in a lot of our parks
we see deer we see other foxes we see badgers we see all sorts of interesting creatures and
who knows what we might see next so you know I can't wait to see. Their game over the otter
returned to its natural environment leaving the fox still curious but alone until they can meet
again. Jessica Lane, BBC News. That's pretty cute isn't it? Where's Julia Donaldson she could write
a book about that couldn't see the fox and the otter. I didn't realise the otters were quite so
big compared to the fox. Darren Lincoln. Apparently. We were just watching that loving the pictures and
finding out all sorts of shared connections with Lincoln but that's another story for another day.
