Overcoming Disappointment for Pair Skating Gold! 🇯🇵⛸️

The champions of the world, Miura Riku, Kihara Ryuichi. The Japanese partnership who didn't have an ideal short programme. But they know how to fight. They know this is going to be tough. They know this is going to be gladiatorial. First element of 11, split, twist, caught really well. Quite a distance apart. Triple toe, double axle. Looks all clean. Second double axle. This time the lift is smooth. Wow, throw triple lutz. Massive reverse lasso. One hand. No trouble this time. Final throw and they need it to contend. She has it. Every point, they're getting every single positive point they can. Magnificent. Wow. They're going for it. That was one of the greatest recovery skates this sport has ever seen. Miura Riku and Kihara Ryuichi of Japan. They said after their last world title win they were thankful for what the tough times had taught them. They have proven their toughness with that extraordinary skate. My goodness me. 231.24. They just scored 158.13 for the free skate. Miura Riku and Kihara Ryuichi from fifth place after the short programme to the first Japanese pair. The easiest lift he's ever performed in his career and the one that means the most. Did you believe they could do it? Because they believed it. Clearly with a free skate of that quality, they knew deep down that they could be and would be the finest on earth.
