We’re just a couple days into May, so let’s talk about leafing and blooming.
Well, we're just a couple days into May 22 news storm team meteorologist Alexa
Bianco explains the leaf and bloom status. Now we're just a couple of days
into May. So let's talk about the leaf index that are early and late as well.
So looking at the United States, most of the country is pretty early, about 20
days at least early, especially for central part of the United States. Some
parts of the southeast a little bit late, but even in the northeast where we
live, New England a little bit early as well, getting close to about maybe 5
to 10 days early in some spots, even for western Massachusetts. As you can
tell, it's a little far away, but you can tell that dark red mark where we
are, even for the blooming. Most of the United States very early, at least 20
days, especially for areas like Nebraska, Central Central United States,
which that's because we had such a big warm up pretty early on in the spring,
breaking records across most of the country. But in the northeast, we're not
there just yet with the blooming. We're not early or late. We're just kind of
right where we're supposed to be. But that is going to increase the allergy
season. So the pollen count is pretty high for tree. So I would say if you do
have a sensitivity to it, have your allergy medicine on standby working for
you. Storm team meteorologist Alexa Bianco.
