Miss Haywood is here about the governor's position. Who's now? Miss Haywood! Thank you, sir. Miss Haywood, as if you've restored us back to life. We'd be bereft to lose you now. You're the girl's governess, and I am master of the estate. I am your employer. It was deeply inappropriate. Mr. Cobham, this is Mr. Starn. He and I are to be married. And I fought in vain to deny it, and I am in love with you, Miss Haywood. A promise before God, right? You bewitched me from the very first moment we met. And ever since, my affections have not wavered. Indeed, they have only grown deeper with every second that I've spent in your company. I cannot imagine how fathomless they will be once we have shared a lifetime together.
