What I think I'm doing now is if I know they're going to counter or hit it at me,
I usually will step back and then move. But I want to be able to hold the line. Nice.
Nice. Your anticipation is good and you're getting there. It's just a matter now of executing.
Yeah. You're kind of resetting most of those balls. Yeah. You're turning your whole paddle
kind of like this and your wrist is broken and you're going out with your paddle like that.
So I actually want you to practice getting your paddle parallel to the net and we're
going to practice this motion as we go forward. Forward? Let's start with the paddle angled
upwards. So when I feed it, I'm going to go more towards your shoulder first and you're going to
go more forward like that. I actually want you to think about your paddle going a little more ahead
of you. Like that? So like that? Yes. Okay. And then when you get to here, look at where my paddle
is now. It's back to basically my ready position. So I'm starting with the door closed and then I'm
opening it. Yeah. Oops. Lock the wrist. Lock the wrist. Okay. Your wrist is loose actually.
Do you feel it? Yeah, I do feel it's loose. Yeah. So let's go into our prep take back. We don't want
any ball past our shoulders. You're basically cutting it off right from here. Can you bend
your knees? Like engage? So then I want you to swing like imagine so this is like straight at
first and then I want you to swing like this. Okay. Let's lock this up. Okay. And just think about your
paddle. Like that? Leaning you. Paddle. It's going forward, not your wrist. Okay. Got it. Paddle leaning.
Okay, that makes sense. You see it's actually moving through the air a little bit like this.
Yeah. So what I have people do sometimes is push the top of the paddle and stop it in front.
This is a great way to get the right feel for the shot. Yeah. That's better. Try not to go out
too much. You just want it to be a quick swing. Lock the wrist and try not to go back before you
hit it. Okay. Keep it here. You're kind of like getting too much back here. I want you to start
flat and push forward. Okay. Yeah, that felt better. At the ones that'll be a little more at your chest
and lower, you're still going to have a slight angle. And by angle, I mean the paddle head
slightly tilted. So not as flat unless it's this high. I'll go like this, but it helps me get more
of the ball and helps me go down more at the feet. Okay. Go faster. We're at the kitchen already.
We don't need to over swing, so just try to maintain that. Try not to turn too much. I feel
like on the other ones you were a little turn and you really don't need to turn your body
that much to get that power for this shot. Okay, for sure. You're tilting down a little too much.
I actually want you to tilt a little more up and push forward. Think about how before we were going
from the shoulder down and now we're doing the same from the middle of the body. You were going
more back on your heel, so if anything you should be leaning more into the shot. Okay, okay. Try to
bring your paddle tip actually upwards just a little bit. I know, I keep dropping it. This is
interesting because for the balls that come more toward your hip, I'll turn it more so I can get
like this, kind of like the Gabe Tardio. But for the ones that are a little more at my actual stomach
and chest, I kind of like to tilt it up like this and go down. This kind of? Yeah. Okay, got it. Okay,
yeah, let me try that. I think sometimes with your elbow, it's going really high and that's making
you break your wrist and making it go outwards. So keep your elbow a little more like this,
closer to your body. Yeah. If it's dipping, then I'm probably going to think about resetting or
hitting a flick. I'm going to give you a little more pace and see what happens. Okay, nice.
That was wrist down, huh? I felt it. I think it's just because you're not used to hitting this shot,
so you do this thing where you bring your elbow out and break the wrist,
but I want you to hold your ground more and almost lean into it.
That one felt better. It was very compact. That felt better. Yeah, yeah. Wrist, wrist.
