The Hasselblad 500 EL/M “20 Years in Space” celebrates two decades of collaboration with NASA, honoring the role Hasselblad played in documenting humanity’s journey beyond Earth.

Released in 1982 as a limited edition of 1,500 units, it was built on the 500 EL/M platform with a focus on precision and endurance. Its integrated motor drive and reinforced body ensured consistent performance in demanding conditions, while the silver-grey leather and commemorative plaque marked its place in history.

Its origins trace back to the 500EL introduced in 1965. This motorised design later proved essential in 1969, when a modified version accompanied Apollo 11 to the Moon, becoming the first camera used on the lunar surface.

From Earth orbit to the lunar surface, the 500 series stood as a trusted witness to some of humanity’s most defining moments.
