Set in the suburbs of Toronto, Symphony of Light and Shadow follows two sixteen-year-old cousins — Cici, a fearless Chinese-Canadian teen, and Jill, a gifted but self-doubting violinist newly arrived from China.

As they face high school, family struggles, cultural differences, and unexpected responsibilities, the two girls form a life-changing friendship that helps them discover courage, confidence, and the strength to step into the light together.
