Painting The Flowers | In Our Absence

In this second part of the series, I start building the background and begin painting the flowers. This stage is all about creating depth, atmosphere, and balance within the composition.

I work in thin layers of acrylic paint, gradually building up darker tones first to create a strong sense of depth. From there, I slowly develop the flowers — inspired by the rich tradition of floral painting in the Dutch Golden Age.

Flowers have always carried meaning in painting, often symbolizing the fragility and passing of life. In this piece, they play an important role in both the composition and the story.

This is where the painting starts to come alive.

In the next part, I’ll continue working on the main elements of the composition.
