Now it hasn't been long since my last pickups video but what can I say?
It's a new season and these items are just too good not to talk about.
I would definitely say I'm in a bit of a collecting phase right now.
Since November I've been going through my wardrobe pretty ruthlessly and being quite
harsh on myself saying does this piece of clothing actually fit the direction I'm
heading in with my personal style.
If it doesn't then it's gone.
Maybe it's me getting older or maybe it's my preferences changing.
Maybe it's because I'm just another trend-chasing cheek with no actual personal style.
Who knows eh?
Regardless, selling a lot of my wardrobe has allowed me to take that money and reinvest
it into new pieces that I love right now and I do actually see myself wearing for a few
years to come.
And today I would love if I could just showcase some of them to you.
Quick disclaimer as with all my pickups videos.
Splashing content does make up a small part of my income and yes I do understand we all
share the hobby of dressing well but you have to understand that what I'm showing you
today is not a normal amount of clothes for a normal person to pick up in such a short
time frame.
Picking up new pieces gives me something to share but also to test and style things and
really let you guys know what I think is worth checking out right now.
So you can take all that info and maybe even apply it to your own style.
With that out of the way if you are interested in anything it is all linked in the description
for you and if you enjoy drop this video a like and subscribe too for more great men's
fashion videos.
Right I cannot wait to show you these pieces.
Let's begin.
To absolutely no one's surprise whatsoever I did also grab the brown leather jacket from
Mutant.
I know what you're thinking.
Ryan they are so similar and why on earth would you need both colors?
Well let me say, let me tell you.
Since getting the black in January I've been wearing it non-stop pretty much.
I have fallen for leather jackets more than I ever thought I would.
I will say though the black does sometimes feel just a little bit over the top I guess
for some of the situations that I regularly find myself in.
So really I grabbed the brown to be a bit more of like a everyday daily driver kind
of jacket.
The brown is inherently more casual due to the color as well as this very cool enzyme
wash treatment.
It does feel a bit easier to wear day to day and it really does just work with everything
and anything when it comes to my normal standard everyday style.
Detail wise it has the same heavy double YKK metal zip.
The same heavy 100% cowhide.
It just has a few more intricate details than the black such as the chest pocket and the
side buckle adjusters.
I'd also say it's cut a hair more boxy slightly wider in the chest and slightly shorter in
length.
Over the past few weeks it definitely has replaced my car jacket as my kind of signature
jacket if you will.
Maybe that's just recency bias but I have genuinely been really enjoying it.
I still cannot believe these are only 230 quid.
But what you're actually getting that is the deal of the century.
If you even remotely like the look of them please do check them out.
All I'll say is you will not be disappointed.
Let's move on.
Talking of signature jackets is there anything more classic than a denim jacket?
As some of you may have seen I recently picked up a bit of a grail jacket of mine.
This Orslo type 2 denim jacket as part of some work I did with eBay.
Which in itself feels a bit mad to say out loud even now.
Little old me working with eBay like what is even going on?
I've been after this specific denim jacket for I would say probably three years now.
I think the first time I properly clocked it was seeing James wear his one.
And it just kind of stuck in my head ever since then.
I never really seriously planned to ever buy it though.
It was always one of those pieces where I would look at it.
I would appreciate it.
I watched loads of YouTube videos about it.
Maybe add it to my basket once or twice and then just close the tap you know.
I could just never ever justify it.
If you guys don't know about Orslo they are a Japanese Americana brand.
Reproducing and recreating some of the highest quality work by pieces.
With original fabrications, original craftsmanship techniques and all of the original details.
This type 2 here is then a direct reproduction of the iconic Levi's type 2 denim jacket from
the 1950s through and through down to the selvage ID on the inside.
The main thing that really surprised me about this was just how soft the denim is.
Really does put all of those cheap nasty like scratchy denim jackets to shame.
You know the ones you get and the denim just feels like really rough on your skin.
And the seams kind of like scratch your arms.
You know what I mean.
I did size down with this one to a size 1.
Mainly because I wanted it to feel a bit closer to how these originally fit in the 50s.
And also as I've already got a couple of looser fitting denim jackets.
So I didn't really need another one in that length.
Really though I look at this and all I want to do is just say
thank you guys so much for all your support and all of your love of my videos.
I would physically not have this jacket in my collection right now if it wasn't for you guys.
So genuinely I wanted to say thank you so much.
It means more than you know.
The last outerwear piece I want to talk about today is from Colourplane's latest collection.
You might remember me talking about their workwear jackets
in my last pickups video a few months ago.
Well this most recent collection.
And I'm not just talking about clothes here.
The campaign photos and the campaign sort of content.
So creative.
So interesting.
Please we need more brands doing genuinely cool stuff like this in the space right now.
Anyway this is their take on a sort of workwear meets bomber jacket.
Done in their classic enzyme wash cotton duck canvas.
There's a pretty interesting cut here.
Quite wide with an exaggerated crop.
A heavy feeling metal YKK zipper with metal teeth.
And a black embroidered Colourplane logo on the back of the neck.
I talked about this before but I love a back neck logo placement.
You still get all of the brand recognition but it still doesn't take away from the
clean design in the same way that a chest logo does.
By far the coolest thing about this though is that it's actually in true bomber jacket fashion.
It's reversible.
Reversing it turns it into this quilted almost popper style bomber jacket.
That looks equally as sick as the canvas side.
I'm not normally a fan of like gimmicks in clothing like this.
Because they're always typically form over function.
Like one side is clearly the main side.
And then the reverse side is just like an afterthought.
Here flipping it inside out.
I do feel like you genuinely get two different types of jackets for the price of one.
Both sides are great and are visually distinct enough from each other.
That you could consider each side of the jacket for different outfits.
I've worn both sides out now and I genuinely cannot tell you which one I prefer.
The only slightly awkward thing is the release timing.
Because they're an Australian brand obviously they're going into all winter now.
In the northern hemisphere we're heading into summer.
So it's not exactly like peak season for a jacket like this.
But I will say with how unpredictable the weather has been this spring in the UK.
I have still managed to get a fair bit of good wear out of it.
And every time I've worn it I have really loved it.
Let's move on now to some new pieces from the boys over at Destructive.
They've just released their first spring summer 26 drop.
And also done a bit of a rebrand in terms of their logos and fonts and monograms.
And it really does show.
It definitely feels like they've heightened up their identity as a brand going forward.
I'll try and keep it short because there are a few pieces I'm going to show here.
And the first is this lovely cotton striped shirt.
The fabric was the first thing that I really noticed here.
It's 100% cotton and it is incredibly soft.
It feels amazing on body.
The shirt does feel pretty casual.
But somehow it still has all of the crispness and the sharpness.
Say if you wanted to wear it for a more formal occasion.
Combine this with a very boxy cut and you get a lovely oversized silhouette.
That really does sit off your body rather than clinging anywhere.
And that is just so important with summer shirting.
Second piece I want to show you now are these sick linen trousers.
Linen trousers or linen pants are something I've tried to get on board with for quite a while now.
But for some reason I've never really found a good pair of linen pants.
That I've actually got some solid wear out of.
I think a big part of that is probably because they either feel too thin.
Or they just don't really sit properly.
So you end up either feeling slightly exposed or your outfits just feel a bit unfinished.
These are probably the first pair where that hasn't really been an issue in my mind.
The fabric still does the linen thing.
Very breathable and you can definitely feel air moving through it.
There's a bit more weight with these and that really does make all the difference.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that they don't feel overly delicate.
And because of that fabric thickness there's no issues with transparency or anything like that.
Lastly we have Disruptive's newest colorway in their denim shorts in this lovely raw indigo.
When the whole wide short trend came about I was pretty firmly on the fence.
And that's probably because I think you do actually have to be pretty careful when styling these.
They can very quickly ruin your proportions and just sort of cut up your body in awkward
or unflattering ways.
The leg and the width here is quite well judged.
They don't drop too far down the legs so you don't get the effect where your legs look shorter.
They also don't feel overly wide once they're on.
They just really hit that like perfect middle ground for me in terms of shape.
While this type of short is definitely not for everyone.
They do actually make me feel quite fashionable and cool.
Something I definitely don't actively go for anymore.
But it is still nice to feel that way time to time you know.
They're still alive in this old dog yeah let's say that.
Really great pair of shorts and great craftsmanship on these as well.
The zip is pretty heavy and I was really surprised to see front and back rivets on all of the pockets.
You never really see that on shorts.
So big tick from me.
If you do purchase any of these pieces from destructive.
Make sure to let them know that I was the one that sent you.
That would be amazing thank you.
Going back to color play now they also very kindly gifted me a pair of their new denim.
And I'm not gonna lie when I saw the campaign photos for these.
I originally thought they were gonna be way too baggy.
Because of my height I typically prefer a straighter jean that leans wider.
Rather than a straight out wider baggy jean.
But I'm pleased to say that I really like this pair.
And I'm pretty damn impressed in terms of build quality too.
These are the patent jeans that I've done in this 13 and a half ounce wash black denim.
They feature two front pleats as well as some light whiskering and some paint splatter detail.
As mentioned the cut is pretty wide here but I do still think it is quite flattering.
They have a nice high rise so I can wear them in a comfortable place.
And they're not like completely sagging or bagging around my shoe.
They feature side entry pockets which you guys know I am a big fan of.
And in terms of build quality I would say they feel almost overbuilt.
Just in a really good way.
The belt loops are thick and properly reinforced.
Same with the pockets which have rivets front and back.
And you get a heavy metal YKK zip with metal teeth.
These are all things that average fashion enjoyers don't really notice.
Or from what I've seen in many Instagram comments don't even really care about.
As someone that definitely does care about these types of things.
It is really great to see such a small brand push to be better and include these types of detail.
Admittedly I am still getting used to wearing them.
But I do think they add quite a lot of interest to my outfits.
And it is really nice to have a wider denim option in the wash black.
If I think an outfit needs it you know.
Thanks again to Colourplay for the jeans and the jacket too.
Both really really impressed me.
Go check out their stuff if you're not familiar.
Definitely in my mind one of the most interesting and creative small brands going right now.
Moving back towards something a bit more familiar to my rotation and the channel too.
I decided to pick up another pair of ever faithful galaxy jeans from weekday.
This time in this lovely light wash blue.
If you watch the channel at all you've definitely seen the wash black pair.
Probably too much at this point.
But yeah I already knew I liked the fit.
I already knew I liked all the details.
So this was more about filling a gap I thought I had in my wardrobe.
Rather than just simply trying something new.
What I was looking for specifically though was a lighter wash pair of jeans.
I could wear this sprint that wasn't too heavy or wasn't too wide.
I do have my Uniqlo pair which is very similar to this.
And I absolutely love that pair.
But I do think like I said with my bulkier jackets.
They kind of unbalance the outfit.
It has actually been ages since I've shopped for denim at weekday.
But I'm pleased to say that they are not skipping any corners here.
And these are still a fantastic pair at that entry-level price point.
Still very heavy feeling denim with all the trimmings.
Metal YKK zip.
Bartak belt loops.
And custom weekday rivets for the front pocket.
In terms of build quality.
These I do still think are so hard to beat at this price point.
At the same time they're nothing crazy.
But they do exactly what I need them to do.
Not everything needs to be a crazy attention-grabbing piece.
Sometimes you just need something simple that just holds your everyday outfits together.
Lastly but by no means least.
We have my most recent fragrance pickup.
This is another one that's been on my long wish list for such a long time.
It is Under the Lemon Trees by Maison Margiela.
Of all the summer fragrances I've tried.
This is the one that's just always really stuck with me.
And I think that is because it doesn't go down the typical clean aquatic fresh route.
That a lot of summer fragrances for men do.
It's pretty sharp initially.
Strong citrus notes of lime and a bit of lemongrass.
But it doesn't come across as overly sweet or synthetic.
Then after a bit of time on your skin.
It softens nicely and you get some of the green notes.
And then you have kind of a light woody base underneath it.
I will say it doesn't project massively.
Right at the start or even after a few hours.
It sits much closer to you.
In a way that only people who sort of stand near you pick up on.
Rather than filling a room.
Which is something I much prefer with fragrances.
I've had a few comments on it already.
And mostly it's people just trying to figure out where the smell of lemon is coming from.
It's a very familiar scent.
But you just don't expect it coming from someone standing next to you.
In the grocery store.
Whilst you're out shopping you know.
I do get why it wouldn't be for everyone though.
If you prefer something more traditionally like masculine.
Or a blue fragrance for the summer.
It doesn't really do that at all.
But for me I guess I just really enjoy it.
What can I say?
Let me know your favourite items from today down below.

Regardless.
