Not long ago, I showed how I pruned my orchard, and explained why it's important to prune pears, cherries, sweet cherries, apples, peaches, and other fruit trees exactly this way. I grow a lot of them.
And now, I want to show you how I pruned my pear trees, what results it gave me, and why it's important to prune pears this way from a young age.
After such pruning, they bear much more fruit, and it's easier to take care of them. I've already shown a video on my channel about how to properly prune sweet cherries. If you haven't seen it, be sure to visit my channel and watch it.
This is actually a relatively young little tree. I have only done two separate rounds of pruning on it, last year and this year. The first pruning I did was carefully pinching back the main growth point to encourage branching.
As you can see, these small branches have grown. It is precisely on these branches, on these small spurs, that fruiting occurs. So if you don't prune your pear trees, you won't get these spurs.
The tree will always grow upwards, and there will be no harvest lower down. There will only be fruit at the tips of the branches that have grown. These are special tools for spreading out the tree.
I made them myself, and they are only suitable for young branches to open up the crown. I'll leave a link to the video on how to make them in the top right corner. Be sure to check it out and watch it.
This really works, especially on those trees that tend to grow very vertically, rather than horizontally. And for established fruit trees, this is important because fruit typically forms on more horizontal branches, rather than vertical ones.
And it's all related to sap flow, because here, along the trunk, the sap moves quickly, and only leaf buds form, not fruit buds. But when we bend a branch, the sap flow slows down here, and that's why fruit buds form.
If you're interested, look it up on the internet, and you'll find confirmation of my words. I will train this pear tree in two tiers. Here is my first tier. This is simply the growth of fruiting structure.
And then look, my leader shoot started to grow further. I also pinched it at a distance of two pruners. That's about 50 to 60 centimeters.
Remember, with careful pruning this year, we are laying the essential foundation for next year's harvest, and this is the direct result of last year's pruning.
If you still have questions about pruning fruit trees, growing them, or any other topics related to the garden and vegetable patch, leave them in the comments. I will gladly answer all of them.
And if a question is interesting to most viewers, if it gets a lot of likes, I will make a video response where I will explain everything to you in detail and give a comprehensive answer to your question.
So friends, be sure to take care of yourselves. I wish you a great day, and I'll see you in the next videos.
