'American Idol' contestants prepare to shimmer for Taylor Swift night

Addition is getting down to the wire on American Idol after tonight's episode, only the top five singers will be left standing. But first, the remaining seven will have to take on the music of a pop superstar that we all know very well, Taylor Swift. Here's George Panacchio with a preview. I think we all gotta go full Swifty mode. That's probably a good tactic, considering the reputation of Taylor Swift. Some contestants know her music all too well. My best friend in the whole wide world is a really huge Swifty. And every time I'm in the car with her or going anywhere, it's Taylor Swift music. So I've been around it for a good bit. I was a Swifty at one point. I still kind of am, deep down in my roots. I went to the 1989 tour, the day before my playoff football game in high school, and I was obsessed with her. While others are digging into the Taylor folklore to discover the music that can make them shine. I'm learning songs and just to hear different songs. I'm leaning into the ones I like. She has amazing songs, and so I'm just going to figure out how to execute it and make it my own. I study whatever artist is given to me. So I'm going to try to just be myself while putting Taylor Swift in me, see what's going to happen. I think that her storytelling ability is something that no matter who's singing it, it's a story, and you can portray it how you want. And so that's what I'm most excited about, because I know I can put my spin on it, because it was written so well. That's a sentiment echoed by Judge Luke Bryan. With five of the top seven contestants being men, they're going to need to be fearless. She's written so many great songs, and a lot of times those songs transcend male or female topics. So it'll be fun. We've got a lot of guys in the competition, and they'll have some fun. And if all else fails... I might have to pull some of the cards from Travis this week. I know he figured out how to win over Taylor, so I want to win her over, too. So I'm going to have to do some more work. In Hollywood, George Pinocchio for On the Red Carpet. A lot of Swiftie references in that script there. We were enjoying them, weren't we? American Idol's special two-hour show airs tonight at 8 right here on 6ABC.
