The Parousia, Appearing and Power of Christ's Coming

How did the Romans, The Greeks and the Jews understand the coming of the Son of God? We have a clear example from the writings of Josephus. It explains how the invisible God manifested his presence or coming to the people in the ancient times of the Romans, Jews and Greeks. All the same words used in the N.T. for Jesus' coming are used in the ancient text.

The word parousia (presence) translated coming is used for the coming of God. The word "epiphaneia" translated appearing is used for the manifestation of a hidden divinity. The word "dunamis" (power) is used to show how God demonstrated his power in that coming.

No one doubted the signs or the source of those signs in the events mentioned from the No one asked the unreasonable questions that people asked today about "did you see him", or say, I didn't see him, etc. They all understood how an invisible God made himself known.

Isn't it time for us to understand how to understand the writings of the Old and NT that speak of the last days or end times as those who lived then would have understood them. We must cease and desist from our humanly imposed modern day demands for the biblical text to conform to our personal notions.
