That night, when Kassim returned home, his wife sighed and said,
Alibaba's wife has always been poorer than us, but now they've become wealthy.
Did you know that, my husband?
Kassim replied,
Who doesn't know how poor they were?
They barely had a single coin in their house. What nonsense are you talking about?
Then, his wife showed him the jewelry she had seen and told him everything she had overheard
that morning. Kassim, burning with jealousy, stormed over to his brother's house and forced
Alibaba to tell him the whole truth. But Kassim was too greedy to listen.
The next morning, he rushed to the mountain Alibaba had told him about.
Standing before the massive rock, he shouted loudly,
Open sesame!
The stone moved aside immediately.
Kassim entered and was stunned by the piles of gold, silver, and precious jewels inside.
His eyes sparkled with greed. All he could think was,
I'm going to be rich!
But in his excitement, he forgot the magic words to exit the cave.
He panicked, pacing back and forth, trying desperately to remember.
Then, the forty thieves returned.
When they found Kassim inside the cave, they were furious.
Kassim tried to escape, but the thieves wouldn't let him go.
In the chaos, one of them struck him down with a sword, and Kassim died on the spot.
The next day at noon, when Kassim still hadn't returned,
Alibaba grew worried and went to the cave.
There he discovered his brother's lifeless body.
Heartbroken, he wept and carried Kassim's body back home.
A few days later, the thieves came back to their treasure and were shocked.
Kassim's body had vanished.
Fearing their secret had been discovered,
they held a meeting and decided they had to find out who had taken the body,
and who else knew about the cave.
