Deep in Mexico's Gulf of California, one of nature's most epic predator-prey battles plays out in total darkness, 400 meters beneath the sea. A team of marine biologists sets out on an extraordinary mission: attach a camera to a living sperm whale and witness, for the very first time, how this legendary predator hunts the massive 2-meter jumbo squid.
Led by whale researcher Diane Gendron, engineer Randall Davis, and National Geographic marine biologist Ryan Johnson, the team spends a week chasing down sperm whales aboard a small inflatable boat, armed with nothing but an 8-meter carbon fiber pole, a suction cup, and a lot of courage.
