Hello and welcome from Antwerp on a beautiful winter's day. We are here doing a little day
trip just from our home in the Netherlands. It's not that far to get here so this is something that
we will never get used to is that you can just hop on a train and be in another country in a
couple of hours which is so cool. So we're just going to take you along for our day here. We're
going to be doing a lot of eating, just exploring, so we're going to show you what we get up to,
what we eat, all the good spots to try so stay tuned. We have just got off our train and we are
making our way to the centre now. We've been blessed with the weather, it's actually so nice.
Yeah it's a touch windy but we're just going to trundle our way to the centre now
and show you what we get up to. Initial first impressions is that it's very like
authentic and quaint with all like the buildings and then all the restaurants and bars and cafes
and whatnot below. The architecture here is unreal. We're just in like this main little square
we're just surrounded by bars and restaurants and it's just so pretty everywhere.
On our way to try some supposedly famous, what are they like beef loaded fries or pork? Yeah
like loaded fries because obviously Belgium is known for its fries so we're of course going to
have some fries. But not just normal fries, some good ass fries. So we're going to go there now.
So this is the famous fries place that we're going to go grab a bite to eat at.
Fries are secured, these were 12.25 so hopefully they're good. So it's like a
Flemish stew they call it and then we got mayo on the side as well.
Oh proper. It's good. Expensive but I reckon it's worth it. The fries as well are so crispy
that's so different though. It's something you don't eat as well. And the mayo, for anyone that
doesn't know how good the mayo is in the Netherlands and Belgium, you need to try it. It's insane.
So we are gonna enjoy this and catch up with you in a bit. Those fries were incredible. The place
is called Frits Atelier, I'll also leave the name on the screen, and we got the Flemish beef stew
option and I would highly highly recommend if you're ever in Antwerp. I believe they actually
have a location somewhere else but I don't know exactly where it is but they were definitely the
best fries we've ever had. Like the fries themselves and just the meat on the top,
like everything about them, perfection. Like usually like TikTok hype stuff ain't
always what it hypes up to be but that, even for me, I was like yeah that is good.
It was very very good so we definitely highly recommend. Yes. It's quite funny because like
every other store is either a waffle shop, gelato, chocolate, or like a fries place,
or a diamond store. Or Belgian chocolate. Belgian chocolate. Because like it's, Antwerp is like the
capital diamond trader of the world or something like that. Yeah. Could be completely wrong there
but I think it's like they distribute 60 or 80 percent of diamonds in the world,
which I didn't know. It's pretty cool. So we've been here for probably like an hour and a half
and we've already decided it's time to eat a waffle. Look at the damn size of the thing.
They're not stingy on any toppings either. They've put so many strawberries, so much Nutella,
and so much cream. Smells like the best thing ever. And it was what, like nine euros? The place
is called... That. I don't even want to try and say it to be honest, it's gonna, I'm gonna embarrass
myself, but we're just gonna enjoy this and let you know what we think. That was demolished way
too quickly. Very short-lived. Like literally in like seconds. So much so that we just like kind
of started eating and just it was gone. Yeah. Didn't even think to film it. Unreal. We got
strawberries, cream, and Nutella on it. It's like light and crispy though. Yeah. We got a Brussels
waffle and they're like, like airy and crispy, which is really good. So good. Food tour of
Antwerp so far is going really well. Add to our collection. These ones are pretty cute,
but just trying to decide which one to get. We have secured the postcard of choice. Quite cute,
fits our vibes. Yeah. So what's that, free now? We got free postcards? Yeah. Many more to go.
This right here is an old medieval fortress called Hetzstein, right along the river front here.
And it is known to be the oldest building in Antwerp. So there you go. We are on our way up
said medieval castle. And we're going to like a little viewing point. What are you saying?
Yeah. I don't think so. Very nice view. We are currently walking through Sint Annes tunnel,
which is one of the oldest passenger underpasses here in Belgium. And it's also home to one of the
only wooden escalators left in Europe. So we're trying to find that right now,
because there was an escalator at the other end that we've just come from, which was closed.
So we're hoping that there's one on the other side, but we're currently walking under the
river, which is pretty cool. On the wooden escalator, 28 meters down. Pretty cool.
On to escalator number two. Now we're across to the left bank of the city. This is the
quite famous Cathedral of Our Lady, it's called. And it is known for having its Gothic type
architecture, which is quite different. We have come to this bar in the sunshine here.
It's called Sids, and we've of course got a couple of Aperols, which are on the way.
We are currently in a Belgian chocolate shop, and this place is actually hidden.
We got a little chocolate bar and some eggs, because why not? And it smells so good in here.
We've just come for a little walk by this harbour. Behind us here is the Mass Museum,
which is a very popular activity for people to do. We haven't done it. We are not huge museum
people, and we also just didn't have the time since we're only here for a day,
but would recommend checking it out if you're here for a bit more time.
Yeah, and there's a little terrace at the top, so there's actually, you can't see it from here,
but there's people up there, which is cool. So the views would be sick. 360 degree views
of everywhere. It's supposed to be really cool. Yeah. Here's a better view of the Minecraft Museum.
It's an interesting building. We're now making our way to a food market. It's called Wolf.
They have one also in Brussels, and they haven't been really good. Food markets are always just
such like a, such a vibe as well, and there's always so much going on, but this is like quite
a nice higher-end food market, I guess. Yeah, it is pretty expensive, but the food does seem like
it's really good quality, so hopefully it's good. We have like a fish brioche roll here,
which actually looks insane, and we've also got a burger and fries, which also looks insane.
Jack's just waiting for our gyozas, so hopefully they don't take too long,
so we can eat everything together. Jack is trying it in the bag. It looks really good.
It's completely cold now, but I'm sure it will still taste good. Yeah, but it looks good.
It's like a smash burger with pickles, onion, special sauce, cheese. What are some gyozas,
or how do you say gyozas? Gyozas, and they're taking ages, so we're just like digging in.
Jack's now trying this fish roll. It's like a brioche roll filled with like a fried fish cake
or something. Yeah, or tartar sauce lettuce. It looks great. Yeah, it looks amazing.
You can't put it in his mouth. This place is also such a vibe, so there's a big bar in the
middle over there, and then you just get your food, and you can sit anywhere you like,
and it's so good. Is that good? It's like egg mayo. Oh, interesting. We also got some gyozas,
they look really good too, and we have a summers beat. Taste test of the gyoza.
Yeah, give it a go. Good? Let go? Great success so far.
So that is going to be a wrap on our vlog today. We hope you enjoyed coming along to Antwerp with
us. It's basically been a little food tour, but aside from that, we hope you have enjoyed
following along of our day of adventures and eating. Please don't forget to like and subscribe
as it will help very much, and we appreciate it very much. Until the next one, bye.
