Hello everyone. This is a small rural village in Hunan, China.
Today is the Qingming Festival, a traditional Chinese festival for ancestor worship.
So I went back to my hometown to pay homage to my father and clean his grave.
This is my grandaunt. She is already 90 years old, yet she still goes to the mountains to sweep
the tombs. I advised her not to go. After all, she is getting on in years. The mountain road
is also difficult to traverse. Nevertheless, she still insisted on going. She said,
precisely because I'm getting on in years and may not have many more chances to go,
I have to go even more. This is my hometown. I grew up here as a child, but we have all moved
away now. No one lives here anymore. Many places have already decayed, so you need to be extremely
careful when passing by, as they may collapse. Next, we need to take the mountain path. We
practice inhumation here, so my father is buried in the mountains. I forgot to introduce myself.
My name is Deng, and I am 30 years old. When I was a child, my father led me along this mountain
path to visit my grandfather's grave. Now my father lies buried here, and it is I who come
to tend his grave. Perhaps this is a kind of inheritance. This is a water source,
and the entire village gets its water from here. It is genuine mountain spring water.
When walking on such a mountain road, you need to pay close attention to your feet,
as there may be snakes. That is why I am wearing long rubber boots, which makes it much safer.
There is no road at all here right now. We can only head straight forward by accurately
following the coordinates. In fact, many years ago, there was a small path here,
but as the trees grew and there was too much weed, the path was completely covered over.
One can only imagine how difficult it must have been to bury my father on such a mountain.
It required many people to carry him together. I have arrived at my father's grave and will start
cleaning it. It has been cleaned up. The worship ceremony will now begin.
Sitting beside my father's grave, I tell him about my recent daily life,
as if my father were still alive. After finishing the tomb sweeping and on the way back,
we came to see our old house again, which is filled with countless memories.
When I was little, I always looked forward to growing up quickly. Looking back now,
I think I was so foolish. Childhood was the happiest time of my life with my parents by my
side, carefree and worry-free. But now that I've grown up, everything has changed and people are
no longer the same. I accidentally captured this shot. The sun is shining on the opposite
mountaintop and this scene is truly beautiful. We had dinner at our relative's home and it was
already evening when we returned to the town. It takes a 40-minute drive from the village to
the town. I haven't driven on the small road at night for a long time, so I'm driving rather slowly.
The place with many lights shining ahead is the town. We finally arrived. It took us 50 minutes
to drive here this time. Look, isn't the pistol in my hand cool? Haha, actually this is a firework.
In China, people are not allowed to possess guns.
This is my first video. I hope you all like it.
Thank you everyone. There will be a cool gun-wielding pose at the end. Haha.
