Recoltant
Recoltant in French means farmer or harvester,
and that really reflects what this brand is all about.
I started Recoltant in 2018 with winemaker Julian Fayard,
and it was a joint venture built on a shared vision.
We wanted to revive a style of Napa Cabernet
that feels almost lost today.
These wines I fell in love with in my early 20s.
Before the massive replanting of the valley,
Cabernet had a different voice.
It was elegant, structured, quietly powerful.
Recoltant brings that back,
and most of our fruit comes from Coombsville
and the cooler southern reaches of the Napa Valley.
The wine is influenced by Bordeaux,
but is still unmistakably Napa.
It leads with fruit,
but it carries a layer of savory complexity
that's characterized by tobacco leaf, cedar,
and firm tannin structure
that leans more old world than new.
Bright acidity, restrained alcohol,
and that beautiful green olive note
are a hallmark of Cabernet grown in these soils.
Julian is an incredible collaborator.
He grew up in Provence,
trained at Chateau Smythe-Lafitte,
and wine is in his blood.
He threads the needle between old world precision
and new world expression effortlessly.
Recoltant is a Cabernet Sauvignon
with restraint, authenticity, and soul,
a style people are rediscovering and embracing.
We're proud of what this collaboration has become,
and we're excited for what's ahead.
