Polar Bears Fight Over Territory

After his long summer journey, Big is among the first bears to arrive in Polar Bear Town. Tired of walking, he finds a cool place to lay down, a front row seat for the coming freeze-up, and a chance to be one of the first bears back on the ice. But Big has chosen badly. This even bigger male wants the spot for himself. Both bears will avoid expending energy if they can. It's little more than a playground shoving match, Polar Bear style, to conserve energy. Big backs down, but it drives him closer to town.
