To create your koi carp heart we're going to need some plain white paper,
set of watercolor paints and a paintbrush and some blue or black card and some scissors.
We're going to start off by drawing a heart shape very very lightly in pencil.
So to draw an easy heart shape I'm going to do two large circles so just watch what I do.
On a circle like that, just very roughly, you can draw around something if you want
and another circle like that. Try and make sure that they're roughly the same size,
you know this bit isn't that important, these are the preparatory lines.
Now I'm going to be drawing a triangle underneath like this. We can now go and
erase these bits in the middle because we don't need them and we don't want them to confuse us.
And there we have a heart shape left. I'm going to make this heart shape a little bit
more clean, so just going around like that. There we go. Then I'm going to erase all the
little extra bits that we don't need. Okay, now for the actual fish. So these
little fish are going to be kissing. I'm going to draw one fishy there,
comes all the way around to there, just like that. Then we're going to be doing the other one.
You don't want them to look the same, so don't worry if they don't look exactly the same.
Come all the way around, looping around, and then tail.
Just going to kind of block in the tail here. Now I'm going to erase the lines that I don't need.
I'm going to add in the fins.
Another one here. Try and do them in line. Now we're going to add on the eyes on this one.
Can't see them too well. This one you can barely see them at all.
I've got these little feelers here.
Okay, now for the fun painting bit. I'm just using my little travel watercolor set. You can
use acrylics or watercolors or any kind of paint that you wish. I've mixed up some reddish orange
here and some cadmium yellow here. I've just been mixing the colors. Then a turquoise blue with some
blue and green, a dark blue, almost black color using brown and dark blue. Using a lot of water
with my turquoise color. I'm just going to do this just very lightly.
And then this one here.
So if you're making this for your loved one, I really hope they love it and they appreciate
the fact you've made it by hand. I always prefer something that somebody's made.
And if you've got any special plans, let me know in the comment section below.
And here we're just doing the fin on top here. I forgot to add this one here,
so I'm just going to add it in now. There we go. Just very, very lightly. You can barely see it.
Just adding a little bit of darker blue on this one just to kind of make them look a little bit
different. I'm just mixing up a gray color just to use on the side of the body.
And the same on this one.
Make them look a little bit more 3D.
Now using this orangey color, come back in,
go on top of this section that we did before just by doing the markings. Now these markings
don't have to be precise, so don't worry if yours don't look anything like mine.
Every single koi has a different marking, so they're all individual. So using a very watery
pink, I'm just going to add a little bit to the fin. Well, to the fin, sorry, to the tail.
Now going in with a much brighter reddish, reddish orange.
I'm now going to mix it with a cadmium yellow,
just letting all the colors mix on the page. Work their own magic.
Just doing these little feelers.
Big dollop of red here. Now for this side, starting off with the red first.
Now with the cadmium yellow, dashes of yellow here and there, even on the fin, on the tail here,
on the tail here.
I'm going to make my red a little bit redder, just making the
paint a little bit more concentrated. A bit more orange. Brilliant, now let your painting dry.
Now that your painting is dried, I'm just going to use scissors and I'm going to cut
each one out. So I've cut out my fish and now I'm going to arrange them.
Arrange them back into a heart shape, just like that. Now I'm going to use some glue and just
glue it down. And here we have our finished Kissing Koi Carp Heart Shapes. I really hope
you've enjoyed it and have a very happy Saint Valentine's Day, whatever you're doing.
Lots of love to you all. Bye bye.
