Brewery tour. Cedar Key, FL. RV author Jerry Minchey, Clam farming. | Vanlife in a Travato GL
Published 01-Apr First week of full-time Vanlife is jam packed with adventure including a brewery tour and clam farming! I leave home base heading for Cedar Key, FL with an overnight stop in Tampa Bay, FL. First night includes urban camping (boondocking)at a Harvest Host Golf Club location. I really like staying at the golf clubs as they are usually located in a urban setting, read great Verizon coverage, and are usually in nice, quiet neighborhoods. At the clubhouse I learned about Big Storm Brewing Company. Dylan, head tap tender at Big Storm Brewing Company, gives us a behind the scenes peak into their brewery operations. I really enjoyed tasting their fine craft beers. My return to Cedar Key brought even more wonder than me first visit in December 2018. Audience Angel Steve, created a full schedule for three days including an interview with the Mayor of Cedar Key and a terrific learning experience about farming clams. Didn’t know it took 18-24 months of growing in just the right conditions to bring a clam to market. And my interview with accomplished RV author, Jerry Minchey, was very special. A full-time, solo RVer of many years, Jerry shared some wisdom for full-time, part-time, and wannabe RVers. Jerry included Go Small. Live Large! In his latest book RV Living. An amazing first week of vanlife. And to think that I’m not pointing Lily, my Winnebago Travato, towards home base for ma y months is quite a strange and exhilarating feeling.
