
Ros-Llm - The Ai That Teaches Robots To Obey
Researchers from Huawei Noah's Ark Lab, the Technical University of Darmstadt and ETH Zurich published in the journal Nature Machine Intelligence a study presenting ROS-LLM, an open-source system that integrates large-scale language models into the Robot Operating System — the world's most widely used robot control platform —, enabling machines to interpret instructions in plain human language and execute them in the physical environment without the need for manual programming for each new task; the system supports two execution modes — direct code generation and hierarchical behavior trees —, learns new actions by imitating human demonstrations and refines its performance through continuous feedback, having been validated in scenarios including object rearrangement, chemical laboratory simulation, food preparation and supervised remote control, all carried out using publicly available language models, without the use of proprietary technology.
