So, do you know what the best dressed men right now all have in common? They're not wearing
anything loud and super bold, right? They just sort of look expensive without trying to look
expensive. They look put together without looking like they're trying too hard on it, right? They
just look right. Now, a lot of guys might see that and think like that's great and everything,
but I don't know how to pull that off. It almost looks kind of boring in a way, but it also looks
really nice at the same time. So today, I want to kind of break this down. I want to talk about
what quiet luxury actually is and why it works so well for men over 40. Okay, first things first
though. What is quiet luxury? I think the internet has done a pretty good job of making it sound like
it's something that's out of reach, but it isn't. Quiet luxury is basically a style approach that's
just built on three things, quality, fit, and a bit of restraint. That's pretty much it. And it's
the complete opposite of loud fashion, right? You're not wearing anything that needs some kind
of explanation. You're just dressed well, enclosed it fit and look good on you, and you're wearing
colors that work together. The whole philosophy, and this is what makes it so perfect for guys over
40, is that the clothes are serving you, not the other way around. You're not trying to wear
something that structurally doesn't fit you. You're a man with some life experience under
your belt and your clothes should reflect that you've figured some things out. And honestly,
I feel like quiet luxury was basically invented for guys over 40. And I really mean that because
when you're in your 20s, you wear clothes to fit in. You're trying to signal that you belong to
the subculture or to a specific group, right? You wear the logo because the logo tells people who
you are and where you belong. But by 40, you already know who you are. You don't need the
logo to do that for you. You've also got something that younger guys don't. You know your body by now,
you know your proportions, you know what fits and what doesn't, and you know which cuts actually
work on your frame. And that's the experience. That's basically 20 plus years of getting it
wrong and figuring it out. And most importantly, you're probably at your peak earning power,
which means that for the first time in your life, you can actually invest in quality that doesn't
need to be replaced every six months. The whole movement in menswear right now and every major
style publication is also showing a move towards intention and quality over quantity. All right,
so let's get into the actual wardrobe because this is where some people tend to get some things
wrong, right? They understand the idea, but they don't know exactly what to buy. So here's a few
hero pieces of a quiet luxury wardrobe. First is quality knitwear. If there's one thing that
delivers the most bang for the buck, it's a quality knit, right? Sweaters and polos. Now,
cashmere is of course the gold standard, but merino wool or really any natural fiber that drapes well
and feels substantial works. Now, all of the shirts, all of the shoes, and some of the pants
I'm about to show you are all from today's sponsor collars and co. So if you're looking
to pick up a few pieces, these guys have it dialed in. Their merino wool polos look absolutely
amazing and they also feel amazing, right? It's not screaming for attention. It just looks really,
really nice, but it's also not your standard polo. It's more elevated. And also because we're moving
into summertime, another couple of hero pieces are lightweight shirts and trousers. They have
some beautiful new linen pieces, just like these side adjuster trousers and also button up shirts.
If you don't have any quality linen pieces ready to go for this summer, you've got to go
check these out. So I've got the white linen shirt and also the light blue one. And of course,
you know, I had to go ahead and grab the pair of white linen trousers. This whole look
is sophisticated and it works really well for guys over 40. Another hero piece is a tailored
blazer. Now for summer, go for something like this in a lightweight linen blend. Now,
this is also from collars and co, and this is going to work with chinos and trousers easily.
It's structured just enough to look intentional, but it isn't so stiff that it looks like you're
heading off to some board meeting. Another hero piece is going to be the footwear that just
finishes everything off for this spring and summer. I'm telling you a simple, clean suede loafer is
king. Tan, dark brown, Navy, or even black. Pick one that just works with most of what you
already have in your wardrobe and invest in a pair like this. It's going to last for years
right out of the box. These new loafers from collars and co have been amazing.
There's going to be a link down below in the description to a special offer from collars and co
that's going to get you a discount on anything that you want to go pick up. And listen,
I really do encourage you to go surf around their website and to see all of the new stuff
they have because there's a lot to look at. Use the link in the description and go treat
yourself to something. And thank you collars and co for supporting my channel and for sponsoring
this video. Okay, now let's talk about color because this is where people think that quiet
luxury just means wearing all beige and that's wrong. So your palette starts with neutrals,
but it doesn't end there. Okay, so your foundation colors are Navy, charcoal, black,
white, and medium gray, right? Those are your base pieces. Everything pairs with everything.
Then you can layer in earth tones like camel, olive green, chocolate brown, rust, and tan. So
these are the colors that are dominating menswear right now, and they work perfectly
for men over 40. Think about it. They're warm, they're rich, and they just look elevated.
And then now this is the bit that people seem to miss. You add one intentional pop. Now this is
optional, but just adding one piece in a deeper, more interesting color, right? So maybe a burgundy
sweater or a forest green jacket. That's the difference between looking boring and looking
put together. It's just one piece that gives the eye somewhere else to go. Okay, here's something
else. A nice classic watch, either a clean dress watch or a nice automatic with maybe a leather or
a steel bracelet. So men typically don't wear a lot of jewelry, so a nice watch will get noticed.
It doesn't have to be expensive though. It just has to look like it was chosen,
and it shouldn't be a smart watch when you're trying to look more elevated. It doesn't work.
All right, it's formula time. So let me give you a few outfit formulas that you can use.
First is with contrast. So you can see the heavy contrast between the top and the bottom. Now for
me personally, I would rather wear a lighter color on my lower half and then a dark color on my upper
half. I just think personally it looks a little bit nicer, but of course it can look good the
other way around. Another formula that you can use is to go monochrome. Now you can still have
contrast here, but this is basically wearing different shades of the same color. For example,
gray on gray, blue on blue, and brown on tan, and then build the whole wardrobe in different
tones of that color. Use different shades and different textures also. I think it's just a
really nice way to look confident and put together without looking like you're trying too hard.
Another formula is to simply wear a sports jacket. This can work with jeans, with chinos,
and also with dress trousers. It elevates everything else that you're wearing, and it
can also make you look a lot more important and more confident. Something else that I wanted to
mention here is that quiet luxury isn't a trend, and it's not something that's going to be gone
next season. This is more about an approach to how you dress that rewards exactly what you've
built for yourself, your taste, your knowledge, and the confidence to not need anybody else's
approval. Look, you don't need to buy everything on this list today, but maybe start with one piece,
get the fit right, and invest in quality over quantity. Listen, if you made it this far,
you are one of the true legends, so make sure you hit that like button to let me know you made it.
Thank you so much for watching. Live well, and I hope to see you in the next one.
