About 200 years ago, the statue of the Lady was discovered by local people and carried down from the top of Mount Sam by nine virgin girls, according to the Lady's teachings through the mouth of a "medium." Therefore, the people built a temple to worship her. Some believe that Thoai Ngoc Hau or his wife, Chau Thi Te, ordered and supported the construction of the temple. Although difficult to verify, it is certain that the temple was built after this official took office here, when the Vinh Te Canal was completed (1824), bringing clear benefits to both migrants and locals.
